Just returned from dinner at one of Jose Andres's DC restaurants China Chilcano, a Peruvian Asian fusion place.
Good food. Decided to order dessert described as sort of like flan/creme caramel.
So the first picture is a pretty good color rendition of what it looked like under the ambient lighting.
The second is with flash, and the actual colors. That one looks a little more appetizing IMHO .
It was delicious, the stuff on top is a very sour lemon ice, the white rods are meringue. Lots of flavor contrast going on.

#yum... varied this #recipe a bit, instead of putting the sliced #plantains in the oven I fried them in olive oil with chili salt... had homemade cranberry and quince chutney, mixed pickles, carrot salad from Andrea and endive salad with it... 2 plantains were too much for me, kept 1/4 for tomorrow.
