Odesa port exports in January almost at pre-war levels

Over 20 million metric tons of cargo has been exported from these ports via Ukraine's temporary Black Sea corridor in the last six months, Kubrakov said.

The shipping route was opened in August 2023, weeks after Russia's unilateral termination of the Black Sea grain deal threatened Ukraine's ability to ship out its grain.

According to Kubrakov, 661 vessels have exported the cargo to 32 countries around the world. Of the 20 million metric tons, 14.3 million metric tons are agricultural products produced by Ukrainian farmers.

Another amonition depot in Ukraine was hit by Russian missiles

The videos from Odessa shows massive explosions followed by fire at 2 locations in Odessa.

It seems like Russia is receiving accurate coordinate of Ukrainian military storage facilities and their missiles manage to penetrate all Ukrainian air defense without difficulties.

This was the 7th major loss for Ukraine in the past 6 days.

The so called Ukrainian counter offensive that started last week was either a test run or failed to initiate any major progress.

The break into Bakhmut was signaled as a beginning of the loss of the city from Ukraine sources, but the areas captured by Ukraine where recaptured by Wagner paramilitary and Russian army.

No news about the Ukrainian troops losses or POWs been published.

#Germany says Patriots delivered to #Kiev

The Patriot system is used to combat enemy aircraft, ballistic missiles and cruise missiles. Meanwhile, #Ukraine says an overnight Russian #drone attack hit the southern port city of #Odesa.

The US and Germany each agreed to provide Kyiv with one of the systems. The Netherlands has also pledged to provide missiles and parts.

German press agency dpa cited a German military source as saying that Ukrainian soldiers received training by Germany and the US in a NATO country where joint drills were held.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has vowed to find an "antidote" to the air defense system.

Russia says it has destroyed HIMARS, Harpoon systems in Ukraine: Report

HIMARS
#Russia’s defence ministry says its forces have destroyed two United States-made #HIMARS rocket systems in #Ukraine’s northeastern #Kharkiv region, and a launch system for Harpoon anti-ship missiles in the southwestern #Odesa region, according to a report by the country’s Interfax news agency.

There was no immediate comment from Ukraine on the Russian defence ministry’s latest claim. #Al azeera was unable to independently verify the ministry’s report.

#Kyiv has hailed the HIMARS systems as a possible game changer for the course of the war. The advanced weapons are more precise and offer a longer range than other artillery systems, allowing Ukraine’s forces to strike Russian targets and weapons depots further behind the front lines.

The fact that the Ukrainian forces had to abandon those territories in the first place was the result of a miscalculation. They had been taken by Russian forces in the early days of the invasion. According to Oleksiy Danilov, secretary of the National #Security and Defense Council of #Ukraine, as he noted in a Liga.net article on June 18, Ukraine had expected the main Russian attack to come from the territory of the self-proclaimed #DNR and #LNR and consequently concentrated its most combat-ready units there.
This blunder left the south relatively unprotected for an invasion from #Crimea, which enabled the rapid Russian advance toward #Mariupol and the occupation of #Kherson and #Zaporizhzhia regions. It also created the threat of #Mykolaiv and #Odesa being occupied, while for some time part of the Russian strategy seemed to be to take the entire Black Sea coast of Ukraine, in effect creating a land bridge from Russia all the way to #Transnistria in #Moldova.
Though that has not been achieved and is unlikely to be achievable in light of the successful Ukrainian counteroffensive, what Russia did achieve after the fall of Mariupol is a land corridor to Crimea, which was among #Moscow’s key strategic objectives from the beginning.
