Columbia paid $395,000 in settlement after suspending Jewish student for using ‘skunk spray’

Back in January, two Israeli students sprayed pro-Palestine protesters at Columbia University with an unknown substance that later turned out to be "skunk spray" (used often by IDF against Palestinian farmers and villages in occupied west bank). They were suspended for 18 months.

Now it comes out that Columbia has paid one of those students $395,000 for being “excessively and disproportionately disciplined.”

Surely it's just a matter of time before all those egregiously suspended and expelled pro-Palestine students get their checks too, right?

On the occasion of the second anniversary of the Zina uprising, 25 women political prisoners imprisoned in Evin Women's Prison expressed their protest against the government's imposition of the mandatory hijab by setting fire to their shawls. They also demanded the cancellation of death sentences by singing hymns and chanting protest slogans.

۲۵ نفر از زنان زندانی سیاسی محبوس در بند زنان اوین، به مناسبت دومین سالگرد قیام ژینا، با آتش زدن شال، اعتراض خود را نسبت به اعمال حجاب اجباری توسط حاکمیت، ابراز داشتند. هم‌چنین آنها با سرودخوانی و سردادن شعارهای اعتراضی، خواهان لغو احکام اعدام شدند.

The videos of Australian police beating protesters reminded me of IRGC and Basij in Iran.

But hey, no one dares to condemn those criminal police brutalities that are becoming the norm against antiwar, anti military and anti genocide protesters worldwide.

Ww have come to a whole new world. With fascism is now an acceptwd part of the "civilized west" when it comes to dealing with protesters.

Isn't it lovely to live in the free world?

We have all the freedoms in the world, aa long as we don't criticize Israel, capitalism, greenwaahed corporations and of course the 1984 style police state building up around us.

It's so disgusting to see how American police treating these peaceful protesters compared to neo nazis attacking BLM a few years ago.

And also, I'm so sick of the silence of the majority of the people around the world in what is now the most well documented non stop war crime and crime against humanity in our history.

Only a few brave people out their risking everything to defend the little humanity we have left.

Going through my social media, it seems like Gaza doesn't even exist.

It's all about student protests and police brutality in US.

In the mean time, the stories of Maas Graves, mass execution of healthcare staff and mutilated bodies of palestinians in Khan Yunis have all but disappeared from the news.

No news about starvation.
No news about murder of aid workers by IDF.
No news of bombing tent cities with fire bombs.
No news of Netanyahu ignoring the peace proposal.
No news that Biden keep sending weapons and money to Netanyahu.

I guess it's good that we see the student protests are spreading, but it should not be forgetting WHY they are protesting and what over 2 million Palestinians in Gaza are forced to live every day.

BRIGHTON, Colo. (AP) — Two Denver-area paramedics were convicted Friday in the 2019 killing of Elijah McClain, who they injected with an overdose of the sedative ketamine after police put him in a neck hold.

It was the last trial against police and paramedics charged in the death of McClain, a 23-year-old Black man whose case received little attention until protests over the 2020 killing of George Floyd in Minneapolis. An Aurora police officer was convicted of homicide and third degree assault earlier this year while two officers were acquitted. The trial against the paramedics explored largely uncharted legal territory because it is the first case against medical first responders facing criminal charges to reach trial, potentially setting the bar for prosecutors in future cases.

The jury found Aurora Fire Rescue paramedics Jeremy Cooper and Peter Cichuniec guilty of criminally negligent homicide following a weekslong trial in state district court. The jury also found Cichuniec guilty on one of two second-degree assault charges. Cooper was found not guilty on the assault charges. They could face years in prison at sentencing.

An Arab rights group calls for international help for 360 sub-Saharan #migrants who Libyan authorities say were abandoned in the desert by Tunisian police on the border with #Libya

The Cairo-based Arab Organization for Human Rights (AOHR) said it welcomed Libya's reception of the migrants who had "experienced difficult humanitarian conditions" before being picked up by Libyan border guards.

"According to Libyan border guards, 360 migrants including women and children need urgent humanitarian and medical aid," the AOHR's Libya chapter said, urging Libyan authorities to "authorise the concerned organisations -- the UN High Commissioner for Refugees and the International Organization for Migration -- to meet them and help with legal procedures".

A video of a massive demonstration in solidarity with the family of the victim of police shooting in Nanterre in Paris.

A sea of folk gathered together to show their support for the family of Nahel, the 17 year old boy of Algerian decent who was gunned down by the police during a "normal routine check".

This is the kind of image the right wing media and the racists don't want to see or show. The anger of unjustifiable murder of a young man by the police is widespread and not only limited to "immigrants".

This is not a race riot, it is an explosion of anger built up in years by those who were mistreated and abused by the police without ever receiving justice.

French police is out of control and with the union backing any kind of criminal actions of their members, the whole police core needs to be shaken and getting rid of those "bad apples" who think they are the judge, joury and executioner at the same time because they are wearing a badge.

Jean-Luc Mélenchon, one of the most high-profile figures on the French left, accused police unions — who said in a press release earlier today they "were at war" with the rioters — of "throwing oil on the fire" and encouraging "murderous behaviour."

At least there are voices out there standing up to the ridiculous police can't do no wrong public opinion and the fascists and extreme right calling it for a race war.
