In Poznan, Western Poland, ByPol — a group of former officers from Belarus’s security services who defected from the regime during the protests of 2020 — is "actively preparing for the final day", dubbed “Time X”, when they will return to their country to "take on the Lukashenko's Regime"

— “We tried the peaceful route,” said “Grandad”, an electrician in his sixties who recently recovered from a heart attack after the stress of starting a life from scratch in Poland last year. “[But] never has a state won its freedom without blood.”, in interview to #TheTimes

Per the #british newspaper, this session is the first of its kind in #Poznan, but other groups have been training in #Poland for months with recruits numbering in the hundreds, according to Aliaksandr Azarau, the leader of #Bypol

According to him, guerrilla fighters and partisans linked to Bypol have already conducted small successful operations in #Belarus. They sabotaged railways carrying Russian troops to #Ukraine last spring and in February this year Bypol claimed responsibility for blowing up a Russian reconnaissance plane at an airport near #Minsk with two small drones (which as previously reported here, did not happen)

Nearly four million refugees have fled #Ukraine since #Russia invaded. But these are hardly the only refugees fleeing war-torn countries today. Starting in 2021, the government of #Belarus has cynically used thousands of refugees displaced by wars in #Syria, #Afghanistan, #Iraq, #Ethiopia, and elsewhere as a weapon with which to exert pressure on the European Union. #EU governments have responded callously, leaving these refugees trapped in limbo between two militarized borders and establishing a restricted zone to ensure that observers could not see them dying. Despite this, anarchists organized in the #NoBordersTeam network have defied the restrictions to provide assistance to the refugees in the name of a world without borders. We spoke with anarchists mobilizing on the #border between #Poland and Belarus to learn more.

#Russia’s #delegation has arrived in #Belarus for talks with the Ukrainian side, #Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry #Peskov said on Sunday.
"In line with the agreement, the #Russian delegation consisting of representatives of the Foreign Ministry, the Defense Ministry and other agencies, including the presidential administration, has arrived in Belarus for talks with the Ukrainians," Peskov said.
Russia launched its special #military #operation aimed at #demilitarization and #denazification of Ukraine on February 24. On Friday, the troop movement was suspended amid expectation of possible talks with #Kiev, but resumed on Saturday as Ukraine refused to participate.
Earlier, the office of Ukrainian President Vladimir #Zelensky said he might discuss Ukraine’s neutral status as well as the package of guarantees for its security.
Belarusian President Alexander #Lukashenko announced on February 26 that Minsk was ready to provide a venue for holding the negotiations. Late on Saturday, Zelensky said the proposal to arrange talks had been put forward by the presidents of #Turkey and #Azerbaijan, Recep Tayyip #Erdogan and Ilham #Aliyev.
