The letter, addressed to lawyers at the New York Times and Penguin Random House, arrived a week before the election. Attached was a discursive ten-page legal threat from an attorney for Donald Trump that demanded $10 billion in damages over “false and defamatory statements” contained in articles by Peter Baker, Michael S. Schmidt, Susanne Craig, and Russ Buettner.

Five leading root causes of the #failure of #AI projects were identified

1) First, industry stakeholders often misunderstand — or miscommunicate — what problem needs to be solved using AI.
2) Second, many AI projects fail because the organization lacks the necessary data to adequately train an effective AI model.
3) Third, in some cases, AI projects fail because the organization focuses more on using the latest and greatest technology than on solving real problems for their intended users.
4) Fourth, organizations might not have adequate infrastructure to manage their data and deploy completed AI models, which increases the likelihood of project failure.
5) Finally, in some cases, AI projects fail because the technology is applied to problems that are too difficult for AI to solve.

Popular former sekiwake Terao died Sunday at 60 due to congestive heart failure, the Japan Sumo Association said.

Known for his lean, muscular physique, handsome face and hard-thrusting sumo, Terao, whose real name was Yoshifumi Fukuzono, was a fan favorite along with former yokozuna brothers Takanohana and Wakanohana in the 1980s and 1990s, before retiring in 2002 at 39.

He established the Shikoroyama stable in 2004 and served as its master, counting former sekiwake Abi, the 2022 Kyushu tournament winner, among his proteges.

The Kagoshima Prefecture native made his debut in 1979 and earned "ironman" status after racking up 93 top-tier makuuchi tournament appearances, the sixth-most in the ancient sport's history. His 1,795 career appearances are fourth and 860 wins are 10th on the all-time list.

Terao, whose father was former sekiwake Tsurugamine and stablemaster Izutsu, was the youngest of three sumo wrestling brothers.

The eldest brother, Kakureizan, fought in second-tier juryo, while middle brother Sakahoko also reached the third-highest rank of sekiwake. They died in 2020 and 2019, respectively.

MADISON, Wis. — A man with a handgun showed up at the Wisconsin Capitol demanding to see Gov. Tony Evers (D) on Wednesday, was arrested, posted bail, returned to the Statehouse with a rifle and was taken into protective custody, according to police.

The shirtless man had a holstered handgun and leashed dog with him when he appeared at the security desk outside of the governor’s office Wednesday afternoon demanding to see the governor, according to a statement from the state police. An officer arrested him for openly carrying a firearm.

The man was booked into jail and posted bail. He returned to the outside of the Capitol with a loaded AK-47 around 9 p.m., three hours after the Statehouse closed, according to the state police. He asked to see the governor again. Officers spoke with him and asked to search his backpack. He agreed and they found a police baton, which they said violated state law because the man did not have a concealed-weapons permit, according to police.

The Wisconsin Capitol Police took the man into protective custody for a psychiatric evaluation shortly before midnight based on “concerning statements” the man made, according to a statement from state police spokeswoman Tatyana Warrick. She did not release the man’s name. ...
