Dozens hurt, children’s hospital damaged, in Russian missile attack on Kyiv
At least 53 people have been injured and a children’s hospital as well as homes damaged after Russia launched a missile attack on Kyiv in the early hours of Wednesday morning.
People were woken by a series of loud explosions as air defence systems brought down 10 ballistic missiles aimed at the capital, with the debris falling on the eastern side of the Dnipro river that flows through the city.

This is REALLY important.
“In Finland, the number of homeless people has fallen sharply. Those affected receive a small apartment and counselling with no preconditions. 4 out of 5 people affected make their way back into a stable life. And all this is CHEAPER than accepting homelessness.”
Let that sink in. It costs less than accepting homelessness.

‘Disaster’: Palestinian homes used as Israeli bases in Jenin
Jenin, occupied West Bank – The inside of Bassem Tahayneh’s home in the Jenin refugee camp appears as though a tornado had blown through it.
Israeli soldiers used many homes inside the camp as military bases and caused heavy damage to furniture and belongings.

Ariel Gold אריאל ✡️☮️🕊 : In case you haven’t been paying attention, Israel had its army raid the offices of 6 human rights organizations last night. For Israel, a far bigger danger than violence is peaceful campaigning for freedom justice & equality
This is not going to break twitter and social media or be on world TV news for days. This is how Israel treats non/violent Palestinian groups. And then people ask, why don;t they protest peacefully!
Ever since it's creation, #Israel has been harder on peaceful movements and activists in #Palestine than they are with the militants. They know the power of non/violence can expose the fake "right to defend" slogan they hide behind when destroying the homes of Palestinians on a daily basis or shooting young boys and girls in the eye or their kne caps.
And sadly, all they will receve from the "defenders of human rights in #EU and #US is going to be a lame call to condemn, but that is not sure any more.
In the mean time, they keep confiscating land, keep #demolish #homes and #schools and keep expanding their cancerous #occupation of Palestinian land.

“We know that being able to #build more #quickly, without sacrificing #quality, is something that we have to make huge leaps on if we’re going to even make a dent on the issue of #housing in our lifetime. #Britain’s #leaky #homes make the #EnergyCrisis worse. Why have #governments not fixed them? | Max Wakefield | The Guardian
In many of the homes I've seen, #insulation is only an afterthought.
Exploding housing #market prices and low salaries have left at least 10.000 families without their #homes in #Lisbon, #Portugal.

Even as the Portuguese #economy reached its first surplus in decades, the housing situation was already dramatic. Now, with a looming social and economic #crisis powered by the #COVID-19 #pandemic, things are expected to get much worse.

Liberalise planning rules to fix a #housing #crisis – sounds logical, but it won’t work
The government response to soaring inflation is to promise to build more #homes at speed by loosening the planning system. It is a “supply side” solution, which sounds logical: rapidly increase the number of homes being built and prices will inevitably come down. It is a highly contentious approach, which cost the Conservatives the Chesham and Amersham byelection, but it sounds as if it should work.
The problem is that the housing #market does not function like a pure market, and while the #UK does have some of the highest prices in the world the #affordability crisis is not a peculiarly British issue; it’s a global problem, with an index by the property consultants Knight Frank revealing that global residential prices have risen by more than 60% in the past 10 years.
Cities around the world, from Auckland to Vancouver, are facing an affordability crisis, with huge price rises and extreme gentrification in cities linked to global capital flows and foreign investment rather than local circumstances. This ensures that increased supply will not bring prices down; the new luxury apartment complexes that now characterise British cities such as London, Manchester, Bristol and York, to name but a few, remain out of reach for the majority of house buyers. Many are sold “off plan”, straight to foreign investors, before they have even been built.
