#Remote #workers are wasting their #time proving they’re actually #working
source: https://www.vox.com/recode/2022/9/22/23360887/remote-work-productivity-theater-back-to-office
#Productivity #theater is when workers frequently update their status on #Slack or toggle their mouse to make sure the status light in #Microsoft #Teams is green. They say hello and goodbye, and they drop into different channels throughout the day to chitchat. They check in with #managers and just tell anyone what they’re working on. They even join #meetings they don’t need to be in (and there are many more meetings) and answer emails late into the night.

slack, please let go of my underscores
Couple different workarounds to force slack to treat certain characters as literal instead of formatting codes
For the current WYSIWYG editor, hit Ctrl+Z immediately after conversion happened
and,
To escape a special character, f.e. * or @, type the following characters right before the character that we want to escape:
Keep pressed:Press and release, one after the other, the following characters:
u a dRelease:
For a moment, we will see, underlined: uAD which will soon become invisible.
Now you can type the special character.

Ha! Coming from #ibm #redhat which imposes #proprietarySoftware #surveillance like #slack on workers who are home. Why not rootkit them, too? https://developers.redhat.com/articles/2021/10/12/tools-and-practices-remote-development-teams
Excited! New https://element.io website and new simpler pricing plans for enterprises. Open source encrypted communications with no vendor lock-in for the win!
Yes, really, when you use your own domain, you can take your data and go to another hosting company and your users wont notice a thing. Of course, we at Element Matrix Services will do everything to make it worth staying ;)
Also all our bridge offerings (#Telegram, #Signal, #WhatsApp, #Teams, #Discord, #Slack, #IRC) are now billed per remote active user instead of a flat fee. This means no more restrictions on how many rooms or users one can bridge - you only pay for what you bridge!
New pricing plans blog post: https://element.io/blog/simpler-plans-for-element-on-premise-and-cloud/
Ps. We're also hiring across the board! Come join a great growing company, feel free to ping with questions!

Nebula is an open source cross-platform scalable overlay networking tool with a focus on performance, simplicity and security
It lets you seamlessly connect computers anywhere in the world. Nebula is portable, and runs on Linux, OSX, Windows, iOS, and Android. It can be used to connect a small number of computers, but is also able to connect tens of thousands of computers.
Nebula incorporates a number of existing concepts like encryption, security groups, certificates, and tunneling, and each of those individual pieces existed before Nebula in various forms. What makes Nebula different to existing offerings is that it brings all of these ideas together, resulting in a sum that is greater than its individual parts.
Nebula is a mutually authenticated peer-to-peer software defined network based on the Noise Protocol Framework. Nebula uses elliptic curve Diffie-Hellman key exchange, and AES-256-GCM in its default configuration. Nebula was created to provide a mechanism for groups hosts to communicate securely, even across the internet, while enabling expressive firewall definitions similar in style to cloud security groups.
It was developed by Slack and powers their networking worldwide.

Do not install or use #slack ... it's #malware http://www.brendangregg.com/blog/2021-08-27/slack-crashes-secret-stderr.html it's also very likely illegal to use (but many companies flaunt the law) http://techrights.org/2019/07/20/slack-is-dead/
#ibm (Slack for EVERY worker!) has brainwashed workers into thinking #slack is acceptable. "Lol this is crazy. The whole point of anonymous chat is to not get identified. So I will pass!" https://www.thelayoff.com/t/1crPNdrZ#replies
