Poor training, coordination likely limiting Russia’s offensive capabilities in Kherson Oblast

Poor training and coordination of Russian troops stationed on the east bank of the Dnipro River in Kherson Oblast likely prevent them from dislodging Ukrainian forces from the area, the U.K. Defense Ministry reported on Jan. 20.

After a series of military operations on the Dnipro River’s east bank, held by Russian troops since the start of the full-scale invasion, Ukrainian forces established footholds in the area, continuing to repel Russian attacks despite logistical challenges.

Railways in western Russia hit by sabotage attacks

Railway tracks in Russia's Saratov, Yaroslavl, and Nizhny Novgorod oblasts have been targeted in sabotage attacks

"Unknown opponents of Putin's regime once again burned several relay cabinets on the railway" and other parts of the track used for military logistics, the #HUR said.

The agency shared a video compilation of what appeared to show multiple arson attacks on relay boxes and other parts of track infrastructure.

As a result of the reported sabotage, railway traffic on certain track sections was "paralyzed," according to the HUR.

Russian use of pontoon bridges indicates logistical bottlenecks

As of mid-August, the use of pontoon bridges indicate that Russian forces occupying Crimea and Kherson Oblast face logistical issues, weeks after Ukrainian attacks on the bridges that link the two occupied regions, the U.K. Defense Ministry said on Aug. 23.

On Aug. 6, the Ukrainian military confirmed striking the strategically important Chonhar and Henichesk bridges, which connect northern Crimea with Kherson Oblast.

There are many ways wars can come to a halt. Total surrenders are the ones most people imagine. The surrender of the Japanese on board the USS Missouri comes to mind. Or, for that matter, Victory Day in #Europe. Rarely do wars end that way.
Total surrenders are rare as nails. Most end around a table and even the shape of the table is contested.
#Ukraine is likely going to end in very Russian way. It’s starting to look like the armies of Vladimir #Putin will go home on foot, leaving a lot of equipment behind. Why? They are facing a #logistics #collapse like that seen by the armies of the Tzar in 1917, after the Summer offensive.

The deal involved two companies, both of which could not have sounded more unimportant: an air carrier called #Skybus Jet Cargo and a #Delaware -based firm, International #Logistics Support, which had arranged the flight. But, ultimately, the deal between the two companies fell through. The plane never took off. And shortly after, International Logistics Support sued Skybus for damages in a #Miami court. With the resulting 300-plus pages of court documents, I was able to piece together these basics.
Still, there were big holes in the picture. For instance, who purchased the animals? How many were there? What species? (My best guess was long-tailed macaques, which are commonly sourced from Mauritius.) Where—which lab or labs—were the monkeys supposed to end up? And why, exactly, didn’t the flight take off as planned?
So I kept digging. I read everything I could find about the case. I submitted public records requests to the Centers for #DiseaseControl and Prevention, the National Institutes of #Health, the Fish and #Wildlife Service, and the United States Department of Agriculture, all of which oversee nonhuman primate trade, transport, and research. I asked #animalrights groups, government officials, and academics if they had any information about the case. I reached out to the companies involved, only to conduct a series of fairly fruitless interviews with the owner of International Logistics Support, a guy named Matthew Block, who, it turns out, is something of an infamous character among animal rights groups. From nearly everyone else? Crickets.
Navigating the monkey business, I learned the hard way, is a bit like navigating a, well, jungle.

Nobody Wants To Do Maintenance

Truck drivers abuse trucks because they don't want to die.

Short form: 6-to-8 weeks more fighting will deadline the entire Russian Army military truck fleet.

Canadian Truckers and Truckers the world over have shown the political power of logistics in human hands.

This is why it is very important not to permit the #elites to replace human logistics with robotics and AI.

If there were no Truckers and all trucks were self-driving, we'd all be facing a much greater challenge resisting politico-medical #tyranny.

Knowing and Not Knowing

An excellent examination of, and ruminations about, logistics and globalized supply chain management.

As will surprise no one, it is yet another example of the extractive consequences of abstraction, and of Trusting The Algorithm.

Applying JIT principles to the health system, has forced governments to artificially create the ideal JIT sickness demand scenario (flattening the curve)...

Just-in-time: The larger the disaster the worse the effect on just-in-time failures. Electrical power is the ultimate example of just-in-time delivery. A severe geomagnetic storm could disrupt electrical power delivery for hours to years, locally or even globally. Lack of supplies on hand to repair the electrical system would have catastrophic effects.

Just in case A JIC examples of buyers would be the military or hospitals who need to maintain large inventories because waiting for JIT producers to ramp up production for needed supplies may result in losses (i.e. wars, lives).
