At a time when Peruvian social organizations keep calling for demonstrations against police repression, the Government of President-designate Dina #Boluarte decreed this Saturday a state of emergency in #Lima, which suspends constitutional rights.

Do not expect moral guardians of "Democracy" and "Rule of Law" in Europe and US to react strongly (or at all) against these outrageous criminal actions by the Peruvian government.

Hundreds of hardcore supporters of Brazil’s former president, Jair Bolsonaro, have stormed the country’s congress, presidential palace and supreme court in a stunning security breach that was immediately compared to the 6 January invasion of the US Capitol by followers of Donald Trump in 2021"

Protests against #Peru's new government grew this weekend, with police clashing with angry demonstrators calling for a national strike, fresh elections and the release of detained former president Pedro #Castillo

The protests, which turned deadly on Sunday, have swollen since the leader was impeached and arrested, accused of attempting a coup (funny that they support the #coup by the #military /Farhad)

Protests against Peru's new government grew this weekend, with police clashing with angry demonstrators calling for a national strike, fresh elections and the release of detained former president Pedro Castillo

South American country's legislature on Wednesday threw out the leftist Castillo after he tried to dissolve Congress and rule by decree.

Dina Boluarte, a former prosecutor who had served as Castillo's vice president, was quickly sworn in to replace him.

On Saturday she introduced her new cabinet, a group with an independent and technocratic profile and including eight women.

And fucked up American liberals comparing him with the freaking Trump.

So typical.

Demonizing Pedro Castillo, the man who wanted to end the neo-liberal death grip on Peru and the disastrous policies punishing the poor to please the corporations and the wealthy.

The level of garbage posted by Americans (mostly from so called Liberals) calling the actions of the (now) former president of #Peru, Pedro Castillo as a coup attempt when in reality what he was trying to do was to call for a national assembly to rewrite the constitution and promote social and economical reforms to help the impoverished citizens who fell victim of the conservative and neo-liberal policies of the previous leaders.

The comparison of #Castillo with the Extreme right wing group in Germany and Trump is truly sickening and is a sad example of ignorance of those who just click and share memes and nonsense they see on social media without even understanding what the story was about.

The parliament's sham #impeachment, followed by the rapid deployment of military and the police to capture and imprison him is just another example of the #CIA backed operation in south America that we have seen so many times before, the last one just a few years ago in #Bolivia (with the funding and help of #ElonMusk) and attempted coup against #Venezuela.

The coup will follow the exact footprints of previous scenario, there will be quick changes in taxes and funding and government contracts, followed by privatization, foreign contracts and other lucrative deals to right wing members of the #parliament, their families and friends.

Of course the whole thing will have the blessing and backing of the united state that will use this as the example of the triumph of #democracy with the cheering noise from the gullible people in the #US and #Europe.

President Castillo has been arrested following a legislative coup by Peru's majority right-wing congress.

The #President of #Peru, Pedro #Castillo, has been arrested and is being held in the police station located on Avenida España in the city of #Lima. This is following a vote by the majority right-wing congress to oust him in a legislative coup. The #Military and the #Police have declared their support for the #congress.

The Banana Massacre (Spanish: Matanza/Masacre de las bananeras) was a massacre of United Fruit Company workers that occurred between December 5 and 6, 1928 in the town of Ciénaga near Santa Marta, #Colombia. A strike began on November 12, 1928, when the workers ceased to work until the company would reach an agreement with them to grant them dignified working conditions.[2] After several weeks with no agreement, in which the United Fruit Company refused to negotiate with the workers, the conservative government of Miguel Abadía Méndez sent the Colombian Army in against the strikers, resulting in the massacre of upto 2,000 people.

U.S. officials in Colombia and United Fruit representatives portrayed the workers' strike as "communist" with a "subversive tendency" in telegrams to Frank B. Kellogg, the United States Secretary of State. The Colombian government was also compelled to work for the interests of the company, considering they could cut off trade of Colombian bananas with significant markets such as the United States and Europe.

Another example of normalized white supremacy.

“Like the conquistadors, we must invent a new world,” @JosepBorrellF said to Latin American officials.

European colonisation exterminated 90% of the South American population—perhaps history’s largest genocide—and replaced the dead with African slaves.

Presidential runoff election breakdown. Red is Lula, Blue Bolsonaro. Red areas correspond closely with poorest regions of Brazil. The poor and working class favored Lula by a 2:1 ratio.

This is so troubling that the majority of high income Brazilians support the fascist Bolsonaro while working class and natives voted for Lula.

This will not end well, those people control the economy and can slow down or simply stop Lula's attempt to correct the direction Brazil is going and create a dangerous and devastating economical crisis so they then use as the proof of the failure of socialist ideas of Lila.

#US PRESSURING NEW LEFT-WING #HONDURAS GOVERNMENT OVER PRIVATIZED CITIES

After the Honduran government fulfilled a campaign promise by moving to end an extreme form of special economic zone, two US senators threatened to withdraw foreign aid to the country.

Honduran President Xiomara Castro, who took office in January, promised on the campaign trail to abolish special economic zones known as ZEDEs (“Economic Development and Employment Zones” in English), where private investors have outsized power to shape labor laws, judicial systems, and local governance. These zones have garnered fierce opposition in Honduras for undermining the basic tenets of #democracy.

In April, she achieved a major win when the Congress of Honduras unanimously voted to repeal the law that allows for ZEDEs, and to abolish the current ones, though the latter has to be ratified next year. But the forces who want to keep ZEDEs in operation are retaliating, and they’ve found allies on Capitol Hill.

Earlier this month, Sens. Bill Hagerty (R-TN) and Ben Cardin (D-MD) called on U.S. Secretary of State Antony #Blinken to act against the Honduran government for moving to get rid of ZEDEs. In doing so, the senators are citing the findings of an influential think tank, the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS), which has received direct support from a U.S.-based company that is invested in one of the ZEDEs.

Brazilian president-elect Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva called for "peace and unity" after narrowly winning far-right incumbent Jair Bolsonaro — capping a remarkable political comeback.

This is the most important election of 2022, removal of Bolsonaro is a huge step to help preventing the collapse of Amazonas.

Unfortunately, neither US, Canada oor UK has shown any love for the socialist president and they were to sad to see the fascism Bolsonaro go. Despite their hard work of acting like they care for the environment and support the global action to save rainforests.

A cooperation between #Brazil, #Chile, #Venezuela and #Colombia can create a massive push for green movement in the region as well as ending the deadly grip of western nations who's only interest is to use and abuse those nations no matter the cost to humans or the eco system.
