The time a #Soviet Destroyer saved American Lives

On June 8, 1967 the now infamous false-flag attack on the USS Liberty occured. While the incident is now well known online, what is not is that the crew of the vessel were saved by Russian intervention.

At the time of the incident, an SOS put out by the American crew was detected by nearby Soviet forces, resulting in Destroyer 626/4 arriving to the aid of the American ship. As a result, the Israelis were forced to stop their attack at a moment where they had teams ready to board the ship.

That the Russian vessel saved the Americans is attested to both in official documents, including a 1983 declassified memo by the U.S. Navy and NSA documents from 2011. Likewise, Pravda interviewed two Liberty crew members in 2002, with both stating the Russian intervention likely saved their lives. Amid the twin conflicts today, this is something to keep in mind.

US preparing for a war? Deployments of the United States Military, over the past 5 days.

(I would like to note this is not information I gathered myself, but it's from a telegram channel I follow, the analysis is also not mine but the person who posted it /Farhad)

USS Gerald R. Ford Carrier Strike Group Eastern Mediterran region, consists of 8 Arleigh Burke-class Destroyers, 2 Ticonderoga-class Cruisers

USS Dwight D. Eisenhower Carrier Strike Group (Scheduled to arrive in Naples, Italy, soon; 8 Arleigh Burke-class Destroyers, 2 Ticonderoga-class Cruisers, already has left the Port of Norfolk.

6 Squadrons of F/A-18E (Single Seater) Super Hornets (144 Aircrafts total)

2 Squadrons of F/A-18F (Double Seater) Super Hornets (48 Aircrafts total)

16 B-1B Lancers to an RAF Airbase in the U.K

32 A-10A/B Warthogs to a US Airbase in the UAE (which the UAE officially denied)

Reallocation of 101st Airborne assets from the US and Europe, up to 10,000 personnel split between Syria and Jordan

High probability of U.S SOCOM Operatives on the ground in Israel already (reported by the media, if they are not in the ground, most likely attached to Naval assets)

Commenta from person who made the post:

"This is what I've gathered thus far based off Open Sourced info and the carrier groups. Each one's carrying 4 Super Hornet squadrons (3 E-variant or single seater Super Hornets & 1 F-variant or double seater Super Hornet squadron per carrier). Assuming 24 aircrafts per squadron, that puts each carrier at 96 Super Hornets or 192 in total"

Assuming a good chunk of the inventory remains, these two carrier strike grounds have more missiles that what the entire Black Sea fleet launched during the course of last year in Ukraine.

Each Arleigh Burke DDG fields:
• 96-cells for Missiles (Flight IIAs)
• 90-cells for Missiles (Flight Is)
• 8-cells Dedicated Anti-Ship (AShM) Launchers (Flight Is)

Between the 2 USN Carrier Groups there are:
• 4 Ticonderoga-class CGs (122-cell VLS)
• 8 Arleigh Burke-class Flight I Destroyers (90-cell VLS + 8 AShMs)
• 8 Arleigh Burke-class Flight IIA Destroyers (96-cell VLS)

Excluding the aircrafts' and their capability to launch ordinance, the 4 CGs & 16 DDGs have a combined capability of 1,976 Vertical Launch System cells (+96 Harpoon AShMs on 10 of the vessels) for missiles.

Realistically, a portion of these are devoted to Enhanced Sea-Sparrow Missiles (ESSM) for air defense along with the Standard Missile (SM) series that are multi-use missiles, realistically if we see these as a land-attack, we can see an easily 50% of these cells devoted to things such as the naval Tomahawk Cruise Missile which have a range of at minimum, 900nmi based on the Block-VB variation.

In the event of all out war, the 2 American carrier groups will be able to quite literally reach as far as into #SaudiArabia and a little over a third into #Syria from the Eastern Mediterranean as well as denying just about anything #Egypt would try to throw over the air.

(I really think I'm living in a parallel universe when reading these so called news) An interesting point:

— Recently, these incidents of harassment against American Forces and its direct allies have been happening more and more, in different intensities in parts of the globe by the so-called "Rogue States"

— Russian Air Force vs the USAAF #Drones + French Air Force in Syria
—à IRGC vs US Navy / Western-owned Oil tanks in Strait of #Hormuz
— North Korea vs US Air Force in Korean Peninsula
— PLA Navy vs US Navy near àPhilippines

This could have been part of a satire or comedy show trying to make shit up as it goes.
But it is freaking reality of our world where American and French think they have the right to be in the airspace of a country 1000 of kilometers from their borders, and those others are "rogueenations".

WTF doesn't even cover the feeling I have reading these utter nonsense. And the freaking reporters are stenographs of Pentagon and US state department propaganda byro.

Iran Forces US Submarine to Surface in Strait of Hormuz

On Thursday, a top Iranian military commander said the country's navy has warned a nuclear-powered U.S. submarine to surface while it was passing through the Strait of Hormuz.

Iranian Army's Navy Commander Shahram Irani made the remarks in an interview with state-owned IRIB TV's News Network, without elaborating on the date of the event.

Iran's Fateh (Conqueror) submarine detected the the American submarine Florida, through a set of maneuvers, and forced it to surface while the latter was approaching the Strait of Hormuz in "complete silence," he added.

Iran warned the U.S. submarine as it had entered the Iranian territorial waters "to some extent," Irani said, adding the U.S. submarine, accompanied by an escort ship, then corrected its course and continued its journey.

Washington should explain why did its submarine violate Iran's maritime borders and international maritime laws in an important strait, Irani said, calling on the U.S. to observe all international regulations from now on.

He said Iran will pursue the case through international bodies and organizations, warning that such an "illegitimate and dangerous" presence by the United States poses a challenge to everyone.

The U.S. Navy said last week the nuclear-powered guided-missile submarine Florida was operating in the Middle East to support the Bahrain-based U.S. Fifth Fleet.

Coronavirus outbreak sidelines ship whose crew is fully immunized, Navy says

A coronavirus outbreak aboard the USS Milwaukee, whose entire crew was “100 percent immunized,” has forced the ship to remain in port after a scheduled stop in Cuba barely one week into its deployment, the Navy announced Friday.

Most cases are reported as "mild", but an entire warship has been sidelined.

The Milwaukee had sailed from Mayport, Florida.

Modly Resigns As Acting Navy Chief After Firing Warship Skipper And Calling Him Stupid

(NPR) April 7, 2020

Five days after firing the commander of a coronavirus-crippled U.S. Navy aircraft carrier, and a day after apologizing for calling that skipper naive and stupid in heated remarks to that warship's crew, acting Navy Secretary Thomas Modly has called it quits. Defense Secretary Mark Esper has accepted his resignation.

Modly resigned amid public outrage over his handling of the COVID-19 crisis aboard the USS Theodore Roosevelt and growing demands from congressional Democrats for his removal. ...

Modly's departure as the Navy's top civilian official comes two weeks after the drama of the Roosevelt began, when the warship confirmed its first three cases of COVID-19 among more than 5,800 crew members after making port calls in Vietnam.

An impassioned memo emailed to superior officials and dated March 30 from the carrier's commander, Capt. Brett Crozier, described an "accelerating" crisis aboard and pleaded for swift removal of its crew to adequate quarantine housing in Guam, where the warship is currently docked.

A fair start.

Over 120,000 sign online petition to reinstate U.S. Navy carrier commander

(Reuters) April 3, 2020

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - More than 120,000 people have signed a petition calling on the U.S. Navy to reinstate the captain of a coronavirus-stricken aircraft carrier a day after he was relieved of his command for a letter sent to superiors urging stronger measures to halt the outbreak.

Captain Brett Crozier was relieved of his command of the USS Theodore Roosevelt on Thursday after a scathing letter in which he called on the Navy to take “decisive action” to halt the spread of the virus aboard the nuclear-powered aircraft carrier was leaked to the media.

“His actions possibly saved many lives,” the online petition said. “Although he was fired, his plan to safely remove crew members was still implemented. He is a hero who should be rewarded.” ...

When Carriers are Carriers

"A Supercarrier Sidelined By COVID-19 Could Be The Canary In The Coal Mine For The Navy"

Two days ago, three U.S. Navy sailors aboard the aircraft carrier USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN-71) tested positive for COVID-19. Yesterday an additional five sailors tested positive. This is the first time that the Navy has detected the virus aboard a warship at sea. While aircraft carriers have capable and well-equipped medical departments, complete with operating rooms and intensive care units, ships at sea are an extremely difficult environment in which to quarantine individuals who are infected. Accordingly, Roosevelt has suspended its deployment and is now in port in Guam. The entire ship will be placed in quarantine while its crew, literally all of the personnel aboard, will be tested for COVID-19.

...

Reasonable people can differ on whether the aircraft carrier, with its massive cost basis and uncertain survivability against modern anti-ship ballistic missiles and other emerging threats, is still the best option for protecting American interests abroad. With that said, for the near future at least, the aircraft carrier still plays a central role in America's national security strategy, and a COVID outbreak on a currently deployed aircraft carrier threatens to remove that forward-deployed part of America's national security construct on short notice and leave a large and unfillable gap for a period of at least several months. ...

The _Roosevelt_outbreak has since grown to at least 25 confirmed cases.

Concerns are also raised over other ship classes. Including those boats called "boomers" and "hunter-killers".
