Woooo, never thought this moment would actually happen - got my fxtec pro 1x in the mail today. Took only four years or so?

Not sure about the physical keyboard quite yet. Typing this on the phone. Not sure yet if I will end up using this as a daily driver. There is a cool factor for sure. But the hardware being so much poorer than my Sony Xperia, especially the camera, going to be a tough choice. Need to spend some time on the keyboard I guess. Having the full screen available while typing is kinda nice.

OMG, I never thought this day would happen. Only somewhat over 3 years late from original schedule. Now if I can still think of any usage for it, hardware is somewhat out of date since they switched to a worse chipset and, well, time goes on. A mini livingroom tablet?

Certainly the last thing I'm ever buying from a crowdfunding campaign that was supposed to be for daily usage. I went on a shitty old phone for so long waiting for this, eventually giving up and buying a second hand nice handset, with much more modern hardware than this has.

I've been a happy Pixel 'a' series phone user for many many years now

4a, 4a5g, 6a (currently) but have always kinda lusted for the extra features of the mainline and pro series.

The new Pixel 8a being released next week (at $500) is tempting but the older phones are also being discounted...and
I've (for no particular need or reason) have ordered a new discounted Pixel 7 Pro for the same price. A few slightly older features but overall better specs than the Pixel 8a. Slightly bigger screen with higher resolution (but lower brightness which is a slight concern - but both better than my current 6a)

We'll see how it goes....

There are no official safety standards for 5G tech, there are only guidelines. Dr. Beverly Rubik joins Stew to talk about how 5G can disrupt the tissue structures inside the human body. 5G can produce oxidative stress, changes in cell membranes, DNA damage, nervous system problems, and reproductive harm. As #5G #technology #blankets across the #earth it will #terraform it into an #electromagnetic #hell scape.

There has never been an #environmental review of 5G and yet the installation process continues. Dr. Rubiks’s experiments with 4G and 5G #cell #phones showed decreased blood flow to vital organs. Microwave radiation is a well known and well accepted electromagnetic stresser. Electromagnetism in the environment that is unnatural is something we all have to worry about because we all are at risk.

New book shows how journalists exposed frighteningly invasive spyware

I have told people many many times that smartphones are a threat to their privacy, that they are hackable and can easily lead to identity theft etc. I keep getting told I'm paranoid, that its not possible unless someone takes physical possession of your phone and that somehow biometrics will protect them. Not paranoid, informed, and they are bad idea for 2 step authentication.

"They found the analytics control and other privacy settings had no obvious effect on Apple’s data collection—the tracking remained the same whether iPhone Analytics was switched on or off.

“The level of detail is shocking for a company like Apple,” Mysk told Gizmodo."

WTF!?

"An independent test suggests Apple collects data about you and your phone when its own settings promise to “disable the sharing of Device Analytics altogether.”"

New Research Says

Apple Is Tracking You Even When Its Own Privacy Settings Say It’s Not

"For all of Apple’s talk about how private your iPhone is, the company vacuums up a lot of data about you. iPhones do have a privacy setting that is supposed to turn off that tracking. According to a new report by independent researchers, though, Apple collects extremely detailed information on you with its own apps even when you turn off tracking, an apparent direct contradiction of Apple’s own description of how the privacy protection works."

Mobile Handset Privacy: Measuring The Data iOS and Android Send to Apple And Google

Douglas J. Leith
School of Computer Science & Statistics,
Trinity College Dublin, Ireland
25th March, 2021

... what data iOS on an iPhone shares with Apple and what data Google Android on a Pixel phone shares with Google. We find that even when minimally configured and the handset is idle both iOS and Google Android share data with Apple/Google on average every 4.5 mins.

The phone's

  • IMEI
  • Hardware serial number
  • SIM serial number
  • IMSI
  • Handset phone number

And more are shared with Apple and Google.

Both iOS and Google Android transmit telemetry, despite the user explicitly opting out of this.

When a SIM is inserted both iOS and Google Android send details to Apple/Google.

iOS sends the MAC addresses of nearby devices , e.g. other handsets and the home gateway, to Apple t_ogether with their GPS location_.

Currently there are few, if any, realistic options for preventing this data sharing. [Without replacing the operating system.
