Eurasia - US troops are occupying Syria’s oil fields. Congress refuses to withdraw them
The #US #military has illegally occupied #Syrian sovereign territory since 2014, preventing Damascus from accessing its own #oil and #wheat fields. The Senate voted 13-84, rejecting a resolution to withdraw US #troops.

Interesting analyses.
There’s no American #anti-war movement in the #Vietnam War, #Syrian War or #Afghan War sense of the term. That’s because there is a genuine US strategic interest at stake in fighting #Russia to the last Ukrainian, and further. No comparable strategic stake existed in the earlier wars.
The stake in the war against Russia is the preservation of the US occupation of #Germany and the empire in #Europe and the #UK, together with the credibility of US weapons which must be sold worldwide at prices to match their reputations in combat. Losing the war on the Ukrainian battlefield and in the sanctions war against Russia means a worldwide defeat for the US, its military power, its commercial and financial dominance, along with its command-and-control systems, subsidiaries, and retainers.

Fake video filtered and manipulated to make it look like Israeli surveillance video being shared on social media to cover Israel's murder of Palestinian children.
The original source of this is said to be a #video from #Damascus 2018 when #Syrian military shot several anti aircraft missiles during an Israeli attack.
The video was flipped and filtered with a ridiculously terrible way to make it look like it is a surveillance video
But the angle of the video capture suggest that the camera was located on the ground, a few 100 meters from the site of the accident.
Which means, the so called Israeli surveillance video was in #Gaza city at the time of incident.

Nearly six weeks ago, on February 24, 2022, #Russia launched a full-scale invasion of #Ukraine. From that moment, the #history of the Russian state’s past crimes ceased to be history, argues Meduza’s Ideas editor, Maxim Trudolyubov. Russia’s shared present once again includes a fight against the country’s own population, the trials of “enemies of the people,” deportations, occupations of neighboring countries, and “cleansing operations” in countries that were once part of the Soviet bloc. In the war against Ukraine, all of the Russian #state’s worst facets in its Imperial, Soviet, and post-Soviet guises have coalesced. This war is a living indictment that brings together all the things Russian #society can no longer ignore.

This article is from last year, and I don't know if policies might have changed, but this is a dangerous and alarming trend in Europe:
How Denmark’s Syrian refugee residency move reflects shifting policies across Europe (this is a fancy way of saying Denmark's government wants to deport refugees from war-torn Syria sending them back to certain torture and persecution)
Rasha does not know how her attempt to appeal will turn out, but one thing is clear. “I can’t go back to #Syria,” Rasha said, her voice breaking as she recalled the #Syrian secret #police knocking on doors in her neighbourhood on the outskirts of #Damascus, asking about her after she had an argument with her boss. Rasha assumes her boss reported her to the security #forces out of spite after their fight – a not uncommon revenge tactic for those looking to settle scores.
This is why all governments should be abolished and all people should have total and complete freedom of movement.
US fighter jet intercepts #Iran passenger plane over #Syria airspace
#Iran's media say at least one #US fighter jet came dangerously close to an #Iranian passenger plane in #Syrian airspace, forcing it to quickly change course and altitude, resulting in injuries - a claim denied by the #US, who said its F-15 jet was at a safe distance
(but still inspecting an Iranian passneger aeroplane over Syrian airspace).
Now imagine if an Iranian (or Russian) jet had approached a BA passenger airplane to inspect it over French airspace, and think of the headlines the western media would have then.
