The Beatles - Now And Then - The Last Beatles Song

Now and Then's eventful journey to fruition took place over five decades and is the product of conversations and collaborations between the four Beatles that go on to this day. The long mythologised John Lennon demo was first worked on in February 1995 by Paul, George and Ringo as part of The Beatles Anthology project but it remained unfinished, partly because of the impossible technological challenges involved in working with the vocal John had recorded on tape in the 1970s. For years it looked like the song could never be completed. But in 2022 there was a stroke of serendipity. A software system developed by Peter Jackson and his team, used throughout the production of the documentary series Get Back, finally opened the way for the uncoupling of Johnâs vocal from his piano part. As a result, the original recording could be brought to life and worked on anew with contributions from all four Beatles. This remarkable story of musical archaeology reflects The Beatlesâ endless creative curiosity and shared fascination with technology. It marks the completion of the last recording that John, Paul and George and Ringo will get to make together and celebrates the legacy of the foremost and most influential band in popular music history.

An important piece of cinematic film #history in the genre of #dystopian #science #fiction.
It came out around the same time as Solyent Green (1973) and although they share many similarities, those similarities do seem to predict what we're seeing today. The differences are mostly cinematic plus the storylines, but unlike most of today's SF Hollywood polyfiller which lacks imagination and relies heavily on CGI and past worn-out regurgitated comic Marvel/DC paraphernalia turned franchises etc..
That earlier period of cinema produced much higher quality films without the need for multi-layers of technical wizardry but which more people seem to miss and relate to today.
It's also been compared to Stanley Kubrik's, 'A Clockwork Orange' - another classic social dystiopian film released in 1972 and 'Planet of the Apes' released even earlier in 1968, but that too unfortunately fell victim to the curse of the Hollywood franchise syndrome. Even when we fast forward ~1977 - Capricorn One, Coma, Star Wars, Moonraker and Close Encounters of the Third Kind all carry that theme of how an Evil Empire or the Deep State manipulates, deceives, oppresses and controls humanity...
George Lucas said in one #interview that it was a reflection of oppression and the feeling people generally had around the time of the Vietnam War and the string of assassinations from #JFK, #RFK, #MLK to #MalcolmX...and that feeling was to amplify even further just around the corner.

He couldn't see anything. It was frightening.. He couldn't feel anything either.. Except for his body..
And he could breathe .. at least....... and he could see a faint dred shimmer when he exhaled.... which was even more frightening.
He was near to panic and pulled up his upper left work hand before his face... And he saw it... glowing mildly dred as his blood circlulated trough his veins, clearly visible.
He took a very deep breath and exhaled slowly... He could hear the moisture in his breath turn into ice not far away from him.
It got very cold.. he closed his eyes and was rewarded with a warm light dred glow in his eyes. But there was nothing else.
Nothing to hear.
Nothing to feel.
Nothing to smell.
Just the faint glow of it's very own body heat, dissipating out in whatever this cold was......
