A stroll through the #garden at lunchtime. It's a bright, sunny day here today with very good light conditions and so I just wandered around to see what was of interest to #photograph.

In a pale which is used to store #water for watering #plants, you can see what look like #mosquitoes skating on the surface of the water using #SurfaceTension to keep them on top. No doubt, the females will be laying #eggs. You can see #ripples in the water and reflections of the plants around as well as a few #RosePetals which have fallen into the pale.

The #blackberry plants are flowering. Here are some #white #flowers.

And others are #lilac.

The #RunnerBeans plants are currently less than a metre tall but will grow to close to 3 m in height. However, they're already flowering.

Finally, here's the obligatory #Bumblebee on #Allium #florets but you can see another guest at this hotel, which seems to be a small wasp.

I like the bumblebee so much that here she is again in a cropped version of the above image at full resolution.

Shiko Wien bed by E-ggs for Miniforms

Dezeen Showroom: Italian design studio E-ggs has created the Shiko Wien bed for Miniforms, combining a solid wood structure with a Vienna Straw headboard.

Shiko Wien is the third Shiko bed iteration following the Shiko Wonder and Shiko Magnum. It features a slightly curved headboard frame covered with Vienna Straw – the classic weaving style so-called for its association with Viennese coffee houses.

Shiko Wien bed by E-ggs for MiniformsThe Shiko Wien bed features a headboard made of strong but delicate-looking Vienna Straw

"The solid wood headboard frame, joined to the delicate strength of Vienna Straw, creates an intimate tale of shadows," said E-ggs.

"Shiko Wien takes on a new identity, more natural and keen on making contemporary a language of other times."

The Shiko Wien bed is available in either a natural or black ash wood, with the woven headboard coloured to match.

The Shiko beds take their name from a ritual stomping exercise performed by sumo wrestlers to ward off evil spirits, and Miniforms aims to imbue them with a similar sense of solidity and safety.

We know that these images are not very nice to see, but we think it is very important for you to know the story of Eder and what happened to him.
Eder was a laying hen. Hens that have been genetically selected over the years to lay the maximum amount of eggs possible per year. This is usually more than 320 eggs per year, when their closest relatives that have not been modified by man, lay an average of 30 eggs, in three clutches per year. You can imagine the wear and tear such aberrant egg production puts on these hens. As if this were not enough, when the production drops, which is usually after two years, they are sent to the slaughterhouse (let's not forget that the life expectancy of a hen is 10 years).

Two years of suffering without seeing the sun or feeling the air, crammed in a farm where they cannot breathe due to the accumulation of ammonia produced by their own feces, which causes serious respiratory problems. And all for an egg.

Eder had to undergo surgery this week because one of those eggs got stuck in her abdominal cavity, causing peritonitis. Everything you see in the tray in the picture was inside her abdomen. When she went into surgery she weighed 1.8 kg and when she came out she weighed 1.4 kg. Almost a third of his weight of putrefied material. And she was already carrying a hormonal implant to try to reduce ovarian activity and thus lower her egg laying. Unfortunately, Eder could not survive the postoperative period and died.
When someone tells you again, as we have been told so many times, that eggs do no harm, you can tell them Eder's story.
