Harris: “We Will Win This Election”
Speaking at a campaign trail event this past weekend in San Francisco, California, Vice President Kamala Harris predicted victory in this year’s presidential election over Republican nominee Donald Trump.
“So, I will start, then, with this: We will win this election,” Harris told listeners.
“We will. We will win this election. Yes, we will. We will win this election. And we do not have a day to waste. November 5th is in 86 days. […] But let’s not take anything for granted. I know there’s a lot of enthusiasm out there. And, you know, I’ve never been one to really believe in the polls, whether they’re up or they’re down. What we know is the stakes are so high and we can take nothing for granted in this critical moment. So, we will fuel our campaign, as we have, with enthusiasm and optimism but also with a deep commitment to the hard work it’s going to take.”
That enthusiasm is legitimately surging. New polling data from Monmouth University finds an absolutely monumental jump in enthusiasm from Democrats about this year’s election compared to when the general election was still expected to pit Joe Biden against Trump — again.
In June, 46 percent of Democrats indicated they were enthusiastic about the 2024 race, according to Monmouth. And then, Biden stepped aside from the race at the end of July, endorsing Harris to take his place — and now, this new, August set of numbers finds 85 percent of Democrats enthusiastic for November’s election. It’s higher than the enthusiasm among Republicans, which was at 71 percent in June and now.
Harris is rather consistently hitting the campaign trail, showing up recently in Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Michigan, and beyond, and though she said she’s not paying close heed to the polls, they’re promising. Recent polling from The New York Times and Siena College plus a different set of polling done by the Bullfinch Group found leads for Harris in all three states.

"He grew up in a small town in Nebraska, spending summers working on his family’s farm. His father died of cancer when he was 19, and his family relied on Social Security survivor benefit checks to make ends meet. At 17, he enlisted in the National Guard, serving for 24 years. He used his GI Bill benefits to go to college, and become a teacher. He served as both the football coach and the advisor of the Gay-Straight Alliance.
I share this background both because it’s impressive in its own right, and because you see in no uncertain terms how it informs his record. AUGUST 2024: 'Resign': Lawyer sends warning to GOP election officials with plans to refuse results
Democratic election lawyer Marc Elias predicted in an interview with Rolling Stone that pro-Donald Trump election officials across the country — in seven battleground states — are expected to refuse their duty of certifying results in November.
- "I think we are going to see mass refusals to certify the election' in November," the Democracy Docket founder told Rolling Stone. "Everything we are seeing about this election is that the other side is more organized, more ruthless, and more prepared." Elias sent a warning to GOP election officials.
"If you're a Republican county official — do your job," the Democratic lawyer said. "If you're not prepared to do your job, to administer fair elections to certify accurate results, now is the time to resign. Get out of office. You're not cut out for the job you've been given. If you cannot celebrate democracy and the outcome of free and fair elections, regardless of whether the candidate you support won or lost — you're in the wrong business. Leave the election business and go do something else."
Elias emphasized, "But if you stay in this job, if you choose to be in a position to administer elections and to certify the election results, and you don't do your job, you're gonna get sued. And you're gonna lose. And you're gonna go down in history as one of the villains in American history. And that is true for the county election officials, it is true for the state election officials, and, by the way, it is true for those Republican members of Congress listening: If you can't accept the outcome of free and fair elections — shame on you. Go find another line of work."
The Bulwark's AB Stoddard reported, "Delay is critical to every part of the strategy if Harris wins in November—delay verifying ballots, delay with recounts, delay with audits."
Also noted that in Rich Lowry's column published by the National Review column in March, he wrote, "we can stipulate that if Trump loses in November he won’t concede the election and, in all likelihood, will engage in the same kind of pressure campaign to change the results as he did in 2020."

Many thousands of young people are now volunteering to work this election. Hopefully they’ll work the polls while protecting the voter rolls and guaranteeing the precincts will deliver the ballots that a rightfully authorized and accurately count them once cast.
