History. In 1965, Egyptian archaeologists discovered the site and announced they had uncovered a synagogue. Later a mosaic of King David wearing a crown and playing a lyre, labelled in Hebrew, was found. The mosaic was dated to 508-09 CE and measured 3 meters (9.8 ft) high by 1.9 meters (6.2 ft) wide.

When you read multiple spiritual traditions from all over the world from sacred texts, you can't help but realise that they're always talking in metaphor, or parable, or allegory. So, the bible should be no different. There's certain people that want to take it literally, but you're talking about something spiritual. The only way to get at something abstract is to put it in some sort of language, some sort of story, some sort of way to reference the context of it. So, the spiritual texts are almost always referring to some sort of metaphor.

There's two meanings. There is The Ladder which is the human spine in which the prodigal son of the sacred oil -- or Christos -- travels up and down to offer healing and enlightenment to the human form. Then, there's also the Heel Catcher. The word -- the name, Jacob, and in very ancient zodiacs, you'll see a man drawn in the center of them where his back is arched and his heels circle around and touch the back of his head to create a circle. And, that's what the word "Jacob" means: "The Man in The Sky" which refers to the Zodiac which is a reflection of the time cycle of the human body."

The first mention of "sons of God" in the Hebrew Bible occurs at Genesis 6:1โ4. In terms of literary-historical origin, this phrase is typically associated with the Jahwist tradition.[3]
That the "sons of God" were separate enough from the "daughters of men" that they warranted such a distinction, has spawned millennia's worth of debate regarding the meaning of the term. Historically, in Jewish thought, this passage has had many interpretations. Here are three:
Offspring of Seth: The first references to the offspring of Seth rebelling from God and mingling with the daughters of Cain are found in Christian and rabbinic literature from the second century CE onwards e.g. Rabbi Shimon bar Yochai, Origen, Augustine of Hippo, Julius Africanus, and the Letters attributed to St. Clement. It is also the view expressed in the modern canonical Amharic Ethiopian Orthodox Bible. In Judaism "Sons of God" usually refers to the righteous, i.e. the children of Seth.
Angels: All of the earliest sources interpret the "sons of God" as angels. From the third century BCE onwards, references are found in the Enochic literature, the Dead Sea Scrolls (the Genesis Apocryphon, the Damascus Document, 4Q180), Jubilees, the Testament of Reuben, 2 Baruch, Josephus, and the book of Jude (compare with 2 Peter 2). This is also the meaning of the only two identical occurrences of bene ha elohim in the Hebrew Bible (Job 1:6 and 2:1), and of the most closely related expressions (refer to the list above). In the Septuagint, the interpretive reading "angels" is found in Codex Alexandrinus, one of four main witnesses to the Greek text.
Deified kings/Tyrant judges: There is also a large consensus within the scholarly community, that the "sons of God" were simply the deified kings of the various Canaanite city states. These would be the same Canaanite city states that the later proto-Israelites would eventually flee, and who would eventually resettle in the Judean highlands.
Rabbinic Judaism traditionally adheres to the first interpretation, with some exceptions, and modern Jewish translations may translate bnei elohim as "sons of rulers" rather than "sons of God". Regardless, the second interpretation (sons of angels or other divine beings) is nonexistent in modern Judaism. This is reflected by the rejection of Enoch and other Apocrypha supporting the second interpretation from the Hebrew Bible Canon.

Rare recordings kept in the National Library's collection reveal the Hanukkah songs that gave hope to Jewish children during World War 2
In the summer of 1948, Ben Stonehill, a #Jewish man of Polish descent and a lover of everything #Yiddish with a keen historical awareness, made his way uptown on the New York City subway system carrying a bag filled with recording equipment. Word had reached him that Jewish #refugees had been brought to a hotel on the Upper West Side, and he wanted to get there as quickly as possible.
#Stonehill set up his equipment and asked the refugees to sing all the #songs they knew from before the war. He recorded over 40 hours of music and most likely saved more than 1000 songs from being lost forever.
Men and women, young and old, sang in Hebrew, Russian, and Polish โ but most of them sang in their mother-tongue โ Yiddish. Children clamored around the music recorder, begging for a chance at the microphone. They wanted to hear their own voices, recorded by Stonehill. The technology delighted them and they were excited to sing the songs they heard at their parentsโ knees, songs from their #Hebrew school, from their youth movement, from the ghetto, from the camp, and even from where they remained hidden during the destruction. Those pieces of their culture, their voices, would now be alive forever, for future generations.
As we listen, other voices can be heard in the background, other survivors crying, laughing, and singing along.
Hanukkah was celebrated and observed throughout the war, in the ghettos and even in the camps, as the survivors hoped beyond hope that the suffering would end and believed that they would be free once again. These were small glimmers of light in the endless darkness and Hanukkah was of specific symbolic importance during the #Holocaust.
