Indeed, the United Nations Secretary General #AntónioGuterres agrees that “machines with the power and discretion to take lives without human involvement are politically unacceptable, morally repugnant and should be prohibited by international law.”

Mankind would be well advised if its technology did not overtake its ethics.

What would happen if the #military wasn't just staffed by inhuman assholes who don't give a shit about #CollateralDamage? Then one would ask oneself if it is justifiable to kill a little girl who happens to be selling her bread next to a house with terrorists. Or else how to justify the death of the little girl for a higher goal. The debate seems somewhat hypocritical, as the US military has incinerated entire wedding parties with drones without consequence.

Aren't #drone #pilots who intervene in war far from the front lines also #war participants and therefore legitimate targets in a #conflict. What happens if the other side attacks these pilots while they are at home with their families after their 8-hour shift?

He uses drones to protect a pipeline on another continent. In the process, he witnesses how a beautiful young woman is to be forcibly married. He falls in love with her and helps her escape with the drones. If you don't think outside the box, this is a #love story. But how creepy is it really? If he were an old geezer, he'd be a stalker, and besides, he's misusing the drones for his purpose. Apart from that, the drones #kill people who approach the pipeline.

#Google is trying to #kill the #OpenWeb.

Using the proposed "Web Environment Integrity" means websites can select on which devices (browsers) they wish to be displayed, and can refuse service to other devices. It binds client side software to a website, creating a silo'd app.

In the wake of yet another mass shooting — this time at a mall in Allen, Texas, where a gunman killed at least eight people — a Fox News guest recommended that Americans who fear they may be a victim of the next shooting should “be polite and professional, but plan to kill everyone you meet.”

Alex #Coker, a television host and former police officer, was quoting a line that General James Mattis reportedly told troops in the war zones of Iraq and Afghanistan. But Coker now thinks that this kind of mindset is healthy for people in America.

The authors of this study analyzed the #suicide rates of white males in 49 large metropolitan areas of the #USA and bid them against the proportion of #radio airtime devoted to country music, as opposed to any other genre. What they found is that there exists a significant correlation between these proportions (p<0.05).
