I was going to take a photograph of the #WaxingGibbous #Moon this afternoon and as I was going to the #east-facing side of the house, I noticed that an #aeroplane was on approach from the #west. When #winds have an #easterly component then the active #runway at the #airport is #08 and we're not far from the #GlidePath.

Of course, I didn't forget my original intention and so here is our nearest companion in the #Cosmos. I used a shutter speed of 1/5000 s and that's why the #sky looks much darker than it really appeared to the naked eye.

I did a short #hike in #Dartmoor yesterday. The wind was gusting to over 70 km/h and it was sometimes difficult to stay upright. The weather was very changeable and so we made sure that we were prepared with full waterproof attire, a map in a transparent sealed waterproof case.and some food and hot drinks for this #winter #excursion. Even for a brief trip, perhaps an hour and a half in duration, planning is important. In the photograph you can see the #BirchTor which we'd just been on from a couple of km distance.

The #geology of this #NationalPark is based on the #exposure of #weathered #Granite and #Tors are #outcrops found at the summit of #hills.

I came down to the #kitchen for breakfast this morning and found myself in a #bakery instead. People are stocking up for the Christmas break and here is some of the consignment that my wife will be delivering later today. She has shown such dedication to her new business, built on her skill and enthusiasm for #baking.

The larger loaves are 800 g, the smaller ones (flat #breads or #bazlama) and the #buns are 200 g.

If you take an #overexposed #photograph of the #Moon, you may often notice a dark #halo around its #perimeter. This #evening's #Picture was taken at #dusk and the #sky was still quite light despite the deep blue it looks here with this exposure. It was taken almost exactly 36 hours before the next #FullMoon.

Here is a much faster #exposure where the sky appears black. This one is cropped.

One #Moon, three #exposures. These #photographs were taken seconds apart this #afternoon, around #sunset, and yet look quite different simply because of shutter speed. The most striking difference to me is the #colour of the #sky.

The first one has an exposure time of 1/160 s.
Moon 1/160 s

The next one has an exposure time of 1/320 s.
Moon 1/320 s

And the last one has an exposure time of 1/640 s.

A corner of my drawing room has a few #holograms in it which create a novel display feature. Firstly there's one of a #microscope, the eye piece of which stick out into the room. You can actually look into it and see a magnified image of a microchip inside, It's a pity that I couldn't get the camera in the right position to show that.

Here's an #aeroplane, which happens to be a #Cessna172 viewed from different angles. The wing really appears to stick out of the plane of the image.

Finally, here's a #rose which, not only can you view from different angles, but which also opens up if you move from right to left.
