Homeland Security Blasts GOP’s ‘Evidence Free’ Impeachment Articles Against DHS Chief

"Republicans don’t want to fix the [immigration] problem; they want to campaign on it," the department said in a statement

House Republicans released articles of impeachment against Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas on Sunday, prompting the federal government to respond in a scathing memo calling the impeachment effort “unconstitutional [and] evidence free.” In addition to accusing Mayorkas of not following immigration laws, the GOP’s articles claim Mayorkas “terminated contracts” to build Donald Trump’s wall on the U.S.-Mexico border.

Republican House Homeland Security Chairman Mark Green said in a statement on Sunday, “These articles lay out a clear, compelling, and irrefutable case for Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas’ impeachment.”

“Republicans don’t want to fix the problem; they want to campaign on it,” DHS wrote in a memo responding to the articles. “That’s why they have undermined efforts to achieve bipartisan solutions and ignored the facts, legal scholars and experts, and even the Constitution itself in their quest to baselessly impeach Secretary Mayorkas.”

The statement continued, saying that the “farce of an impeachment is a distraction from other vital national security priorities and the work Congress should be doing to actually fix our broken immigration laws.”

🔵 About 2,500 #NationalGuard members are already stationed at all nine sectors of the southwest border doing support work with U.S. Customs and Border Protection, one official said. The new increase will bring the total to 4,000 military personnel on the border.

🔵 Officials said the 1,500 troops requested by the Department of Homeland Security, will fill critical “capability gaps,” such as watching for crossings, monitoring camera feeds, data entry and warehouse support, until the agency can replace them with contractors.

🔵 #DHS said in a statement that the request for more troops is due to an anticipated increase in arrivals of migrants attempting to enter the U.S. Support from the troops will free up DHS personnel to fulfill their own law enforcement duties, officials said.

Nearly two week ago, thousands of migrants, mostly Haitian nationals, began arriving at the #Texas - #Mexico border in #DelRio. At one point, there were more than 14,000 migrants, with thousands sheltering under an international bridge.

When asked last Friday what is being done to remediate the situation in Del Rio and what has caused the recent increase of migrants at that port of entry, Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro #Mayorkas said #DHS would continue to use Title 42 to its fullest extent to help expel individuals arriving at the #border.

So the whole thing is not supposed to be political but decides what violent extremism is. According to the Pentagon, environmental activism is already low level terrorism. So when environmental activism contradicts capitalism, it becomes ecoterrorism. As soon as Trump is re-elected, the whole thing is systematically used to finish off the political opponent.
