Hydroponic leek from an outdoor #IKEA #Växer (small 3x4 holes) unit.
Kept one unit on the balcony and turned it into #DWS using solar panels and air pump.
Tomatoes and parsley didn't do well out there but leek seems to have gone wild and have thick juicy leaves.
Not at tall as those I planted in soil and the white part is not as long as those but overall it is a great vegetable that is going to be my #leek and #garlic #omelette today.

Tried to go to sleep early, and instead ended up waking up at 2AM.
Decided to do some quiet garden work so I picked up the failed attempt to grow #garlic hydroponically.
It grew pretty good as long as just the roots were in water, but when I planted the bulbs in #vermiculite and placed them on one of the holes of #IKEA #Växer, they stopped growing after a while and the stems turned dryand rotten.
I am going to plant these in soil outside to see if I get them to grow leaves again.

Time to plant some garlic!
Let them grow roots first and now I'm going to plant them outside between the strawberries and dill. Hopefully they will help with pest control later this year.

I cooked today's dinner which was a #vegetable #soup. About half the ingredients were home grown, including #Potatoes, #RunnefBeeans #Tomatoes and #Garlic Here it is being cooked.
And here is the result after blending.
I served it with crusty home made #bread.

I thought planting @strawberries with #garlic and spring #onion would detercthe bigs!
But it seems that these black bugs don't understand to behave as expected.
Sprayed with soapy water and last drops of my Neem oil hoping it will kill them.

I tried this many years ago with garlic, it worked great until i got sick and stopped taking care of it and it died out.
I may try again growing some garlic later this summer I need to be around to turn it around a few times a week.
I really miss having fresh garlic chives for my soups and sandwich. With one 5L water bottle I would be able to have almost unlimited amounts of garlic chives (not so interested in growing garlic itself, but I love the fresh leaves).

Planted the spring onions in between the strawberries as companion crops. They will help preventing bugs eating the strawberries.
I learned that from an old organic gardener who said he never needed pesticide after he planted #onions and #garlic in between his #strawberries.

I made some #soup for dinner. The main ingredients were #tomatoes, #cauliflower, #celery and #GreekYogurt along with the usual #onion, #garlic and #seasoning. Not bad at all even if I do say so myself with some #bread.
