Plug-In Hybride sind Dreckschleudern

"Schmutziger als gedacht" - titelt Heise.de über eine Studie zum Verbrauch der als umweltfreundlich mit Kaufprämien geförderten Plug-In Hybride. Ihr realer Benzinverbrauch nähert sich dem nebenstehenden Fahrzeug an.

"Real" heißt dabei auf der Straße, denn die Herstellerangaben sind unter Laborbedingungen gemessen worden. Die Studie wurde vom Fraunhofer-Institut für System- und Innovationsforschung ISI gemeinsam mit der Forschungsorganisation International Council on Clean Transportation (ICCT) erstellt. Dazu wurde die realen Nutzung von etwa 9.000 Fahrzeugen aus ganz Europa untersucht. Und das vernichtende Urteil: Der Kraftstoffverbrauch liegt erheblich über den Herstellerangaben.

Während die Hersteller teilweise einen Benzinverbrauch von 1,6-1,7 Liter pro 100 km angeben lieferten die Messungen bei privaten Fahrzeugen 4,4 Litern auf 100 Kilometer, bei Dienstwagen sogar 7,6 bis 8,4 Liter. Der Unterschied ergibt sich daraus, dass Dienstwagen unnötigerweise in der Regel größere Motoren mit größerer Leistung besitzen, obwohl diese Wagen meist nur einen Fahrgast - also mit ihren 2 Tonnen lediglich 75kg bewegen.

Der Skandal ist eigentlich sogar größer als bei den illegalen Abschalteinrichtungen in Dieselfahrzeugen vor einigen Jahren. Hinzu kommt eine weitere inzwischen allgemein bekannte Tatsache, die in dieser Studie nicht untersucht wurde: Die Plug-In Hybride haben einen Elektromotor, mt dem sie innerorts, meist bis zu 50km elektrisch fahren könnten. Aus dieser Tatsache rührt ihre Förderung durch eine Kaufprämie her.

Nun hat sich inzwischen erwiesen, dass selbst bei privater Nutzung diese elektrische Fahrweise nur sehr selten, meist zum Einparken genutzt wird. Dienstwagen werden fast ausschließlich mit dem Verbrennermotor genutzt. Deshalb hatte Wirtschaftsminister Habeck deren Förderung auch zum Jahresende beenden wollen. Das wäre nach FDP Ansicht aber nicht durch den Koaltionsvertrag gedeckt.

Folglich werden weiter Milliarden an Steuergeld für die Anschaffung dieser Dreckschleudern vergeudet ...

The Text-deblur (zip, 601kb) Gimp plugin implements the algorithm by Pan et al (paper+matlab code) for text deblurring. It is based on the MatLab code by Pan et al, and plugs seamlessly into the open source and freely available GNU Image Manipulation Program (GIMP). The current version of the plugin was built for Linux. Windows users may experience some problems compiling the code.

Why would you want to block #NFT users?

Three reasons.

1) Because it is designed in a foolish way, the NFT system has a shocking amount of impact on global warming. The more demand there is to buy and sell NFTs, the higher the value of energy-wasting ("proof of work") cryptocurrencies goes and the more coal and oil these networks will burn. I don't want to be in a community with people who support that.

2) The NFT market is rife with scams and art theft.

3) In short, NFT users are just irritating to be around. People who bought NFTs have to keep hyping other people to buy NFTs or the NFTs they bought will lose value. Twitter NFT cliques are rife with sockpuppet accounts, dogpiling and indifferentiable monkey clones. Blocking NFT users just makes #Twitter nicer.

Are you a person, who likes to inform yourself from a wide range of sources, but are hindered by pesky paywalls on various news sites?
Then you might dig this Firefox add-on:

Tested it with a few news sites, where previously I was prevented from seeing articles without a login. Seems to work! ;-)
(You should, however, consider financially supporting independent journalism, where you see value!)

Also in some cases, like the New York Times, using its Tor ‘onion’ site displays articles in full, that are behind a paywall on the WWW.

Another helpful trick I found to be helpful, when faced with cookie notices and other shenanigans:

  • Use F9 for reader mode (both regular Firefox and Tor Browser)
  • Not only will this present a much friendlier and, well, more readable version of the site, but also skips right by most annoyances from the ‘normal’ page display. F9 again to exit reader mode.
  • Best used in conjunction with F11 (full-screen mode; F11 again to exit).

WP to diaspora* 3.0.1 is out, in search of new maintainers!

Hello to all diasporians using WordPress! 👋

After having been under low-maintenance mode for almost 3 years, I've released the latest version 3.0.1 of the WP to diaspora plugin.

On this note, the project has come to a halt and is looking for new maintainers, since both lead developers aren't using it actively any more.

So this is an official shout-out to any and all developers who would like to continue working on it.
