That’s why a new #discovery reported in the latest #Science is so important. A team of investigators has uncovered the exquisitely preserved skull of a hominid dating back some 1.8 million years at a site called #Dimanisi, in the #Republic of #Georgia, in #Central-Asia. And that #artifact raises doubts about the generally accepted idea that several #human species populated the #Earth at that time.
“We have one #global human species today,” said Christoph Zollikofer, of the #Anthropological Institute and #Museum in #Zurich, #Switzerland, a co-author of the Science report, at a press conference.
“And what we can infer from our study is that 1.8 million years ago there was another [single] global human species.”

David Cameron’s Appointment to Cabinet 'Another Reminder Why the House of Lords Must Go'
Former Prime Minister David Cameron’s appointment as Foreign Secretary – despite having left Parliament in 2016 – has triggered fresh calls to abolish the House of Lords.
Cameron replaces James Cleverly, who has moved to ousted cabinet minister Suella Braverman’s former role of Home Secretary.
There is no constitutional requirement for a cabinet minister to be an elected MP, but it is very rare that senior offices of state are held by unelected politicians. Lobbyist Cameron has been handed a seat in the 800-odd member House of Lords for life to take up the role.
Today campaign group Republic demanded a written constitution and elected upper house following the move.
Republic’s CEO, Graham Smith, said: “This appointment joins a string of recent outrages that remind us of the urgent need to ditch the Lords in favour of an elected upper house.

If they wanted to “preserve” slavery (which was not unconstitutional and not illegal above or below the Mason Dixion Line), they could have simply accepted The Northern backed Lincoln endorsed #Corwin #Amendment which passed both houses of Congress with NO SOUTHERN VOTES if they ended “the secession crisis” and returned to the Union which would have granted the South free access to slavery in perpetuity.
Later in the war the same offer was made twice only if those times the South laid down arms and returned to the Union.
All three times the offers were refused making the ongoing #lie the South ”fought to keep people enslaved” revisionist poppycock, but said #revisionism and 160+ years of Northern falsehood has 95% of the nation's population convinced the South seceeded and suffered the worst war in American history so that a fraction of their upper class could retain something they were already eliminating through peacefull manumission.
