#anxiety

I just remembered, if you can't #phone bank because of #anxiety and feeling like you are #annoying people and they get mad at you, you CAN #phonebank for #ballot curing. In this case, ballots will get thrown in the trash so you are saving #votes that people wanted to cast guaranteed.
People will be much more happy to hear from you then regular phone banking and its a lot easier for people with anxiety. Might even help get over some of the anxiety around regular phone banking once you get into the stride of it. Look in your area for that to help call people and let them know they have a chance to rescue their #vote from being wasted.

A quotation from Montesquieu

Study has always been for me the sovereign remedy against life’s unpleasantness, since I have never experienced any sorrow that an hour’s reading did not eliminate.

Clark (2012)]

Interesting, long read about #GenZ, #smartPhones and adolescent #MentalHealth.

"They spent far less time playing with, talking to, touching, or even making eye contact with their friends and families, thereby reducing their participation in social behaviour that is essential for successful human #development.

"The members of gen Z are, therefore, the test subjects for a radical new way of growing up, far from the real‐world interactions of small communities in which humans evolved. Call it the Great #Rewiring of Childhood. It’s as if they became the first generation to grow up on Mars. And it has turned them into the #Anxious #Generation.

"There was little sign of an impending mental illness crisis among adolescents in the 2000s. Then, quite suddenly, in the early 2010s, things changed. In just five years between 2010 and 2015, across the UK, the US, Canada, Australia and beyond, the number of young people with anxiety, #depression and even suicidal tendencies started to rise sharply... The increases were similar for both sexes and happened across all races and social classes. And among a variety of mental health diagnoses, #anxiety rates rose diagnoses, anxiety rates rose the most."

We see that we have been thoughtless,
Straying from the path of #mindfulness.
We have stored up #afflictions and #ignorance,
Which have brought about so much #aversion and #sorrow.
There are times we have been weary of life
Because we are so full of #anxiety.
Because we do not understand others,
We are #angry and #resentful.
First we try to #reason with each other, then we #blame.
Every day the #suffering increases, making the rift greater.
There are days when we are unwilling to speak to each other,
Unwilling to look at each other in the face.
And we create internal formations, which last for a long time.

"What happened before which I'm simply going to call Austerity, was far more devastating than the pandemic, and the pandemic was probably not quite as devastating, we have a record which is similar to other European countries, partly because so many elderly people died early before the pandemic occurred. so that's the context."

falling since #2010, since the work capability assessment frauds, and the rest.

funny how we have paid with our lives, to pay for the crimes of bankers, and now we have bankers in parliament...

some other quote snippets:

"huge rise [in inequality] in the 80s, those who had most got more"
"and it plateaued"
"worst in europe and stayed there".

"imagine if we did that. imagine if we spent more on the quarter of children doing worst at school, what the result would be."

"enormous scope for how we can do things differently"

The UK had the highest life expectancy of the world's larger countries from 1950 to 1955. But every year from 2012 onwards, projections for life expectancy in the UK have been revised downwards by the ONS. What happened? The answer is austerity. Its impact was far deadlier than the COVID-19 pandemic.

Life expectancy at birth is a key measure of the health of any given population – and Britain's is getting worse.

Other high-income countries also experienced falls or stalls in life expectancy between 2014 and 2015. However, when trends for 18 Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development countries were examined, researchers found that all countries except the US and UK recovered with “robust gains” in 2015-16. The United States is very poor company to be in when it comes to public health.

In a talk given at the Royal Society of Medicine in London during the colloquium ”Recent advances in medicine and surgery” on Thursday 30 November 2023, Professor Danny Dorling looks at what happened – and who paid the price.

This is an audio-only recording of Professor Dorling's talk.

it takes #healing, processing, to come to healthy terms with what happened. #trauma.

(and as silly as it first seems, try #EFT, which, surprisingly, works even better the more severe the stuff being dealt with in #ptsd or #cptsd or #grief or #addiction or #survivorguilt or #stress or #anxiety or #depression or #burnout , or whatever trauma from, and with, toxic overload...
this Emotional Freedom Technique stuff helps,
as silly as it first seems, it really helps. it's no magic pixie wand that solves everything, but it helps with the #overwhelmed #overwhelm, helps widen the processing aperture and expedite the jam straight through )

[no guarantees, do research it yourself, just speaking from my experience, it astonishes me how much it helps, enough i want to share it, perchance it really helps alleviate a lot of suffering.]
