A quotation by Cicero, Marcus Tullius

But of all injustice, theirs is certainly of the deepest die, who make it their business to appear honest men, even whilst they are practising the greatest of villainies.

[Totius autem iniustitiae nulla capitalior quam eorum, qui tum, cum maxime fallunt, id agunt, ut viri boni esse videantur.]

Marcus Tullius Cicero (106-43 BC) Roman orator, statesman, philosopher
De Officiis [On Duties; On Moral Duty; The Offices], Book 1, ch. 13 (1.13) / sec. 41 (44 BC) [tr. Cockman (1699)]

Federal Reserve Policy Errors

The entire notion that central bank policy makes or breaks the economy is the original Policy Error #1. That is to say, whatever policy a central bank pursues is a policy error because every policy is an attempt to manipulate the self-organizing cycle of credit / economic expansion and contraction.

Project Veritas Must Face Defamation Suit Alleging It Ran ‘Fabricated’ Voter Fraud Claims in Pennsylvania, Judge Rules

Project Veritas cannot dismiss a defamation lawsuit from a postmaster in Pennsylvania who says the group smeared him by running “fabricated” claims that he backdated mail-in ballots to sway the outcome of the 2020 presidential election for Joe Biden, a judge ruled.

The Erie postmaster, Robert Weisenbach, says he was actually a Donald Trump supporter who voted for the 45th president on Election Day. He says that did not stop Project Veritas from running a “fabricated” story by an alleged anonymous “whistleblower” who described Weisenbach as a “Trump hater” and claimed to have overheard him plotting to backdate ballots.

The so-called “whistle-blower,” U.S. Postal Service employee Richard Hopkins, recanted his remarks to the inspector general. Hopkins later asserted his about-face was coerced and reaped a windfall, making $130,000 over GoFundMe before that account was suspended and $236,000 over GiveSendGo, according to the lawsuit.

Weisenbach says that the damage was done. Trump amplified the false claims of voter fraud, and Weisenbach had to leave his home with his family and shelter in a hotel after receiving hate mail and threats, according to his lawsuit.

Sedition by Syntax: The Income Tax Fraud
The use of private commercial paper [debt currency or Federal Reserve Notes] removes the sovereignty status of the governments of We, the People, and reduces them to an “entity,” rather than a government in the area of finance and commerce. As with any corporation or person, this “entity” cannot compel performance upon its corporate statutes or corporation rules unless it, like any other corporation or person, is the holder-in-due-course of some contract or commercial agreement between it, and the one upon whom demands for performance are made, and is willing to produce said document, and place the same into evidence before trying to enforce its demands, called statutes.

“When governments enter the world of commerce, they are subject to the same burdens as any private firm or corporation.”

#Bitcoin, even better than gold?

source: https://mondediplo.com/2022/02/08bitcoin

Bitcoin is particularly vulnerable to fraud and market manipulation. The absence of #regulation and supervision, inherent to its operation, allows the largest investors to use their full weight to directly influence prices with a very low risk of incurring sanction. Yet Bitcoin distribution is highly unequal: in November 2021 just over 2,000 accounts (0.01% of 20 million) held 42% of Bitcoin wealth (10). In crypto jargon, these big accounts are known as ‘whales’. Some belong to wealthy investors; others are owned by trading platforms which sometimes act on behalf of their clients and sometimes on their own account.

#Capitalism and #health care - the eternal #contradiction ...

The #series "The #Dropout" is about the huge #scandal surrounding #ElizabethHolmes and her startup #Theranos.

More info here: https://www.themoviedb.org/tv/122066-the-dropout

In Elizabeth's childhood her parents got into financial difficulties and she had to move because of that. This strengthened her will to become successful and always financially independent. She dropped out of #university to start her medical startup. However, it quickly became clear that her #idea of #blood tests was appealing but not technically feasible. Instead of admitting this to herself, she raised more and more #venture #capital and continued her #research. The research, however, did not go into a finished product but into a #scam to simulate a working product. She justified the #fraud to herself by saying that it would allow her to continue researching and that her research would eventually benefit #society. In the process, she created an environment of non-trust in her #company. Employees were actively prevented from exchanging information and there was a company secret service that monitored and spied on employees. Employees were intimidated and silenced with non-disclosure agreements.

This "student essay" was written by an AI Transformer program

I gave it a prompt "The construct of learning styles is problematic because " and it generated the rest, including the headings and references. AI Transformer technology will disrupt education. Here's how. The most obvious disruption is students submitting assignments generated by AI. That's already happening. Anyone can sign up for an account with the GPT-3 Transformer then go to its "Playground", type the opening words of an assignment, press Submit and let it do the rest. ...

Essay-writing services have been a pox on university educators for decades. Artificially-generated texts raise that to the next level (though promise to disrupt at least some of the incumbents. Perhaps the oral defence will return to fashion.

This also makes the sponsor spot touting AI to solve previously unsolveable problems at business scale ... somewhat more than vaguely dystopian. And wonder at the integrity of any written communications.

Perhaps even this one.

Video: NFTs Are Legally Problematic

by LegalEagle ft. S. Mould & Coffeezilla

This video is very easy to understand.

Key points:

  1. NBA Top Shots - this great NFT scam proves who promises NFTs might just take the money and run away with no responsibility
  2. Bored Apes and the like - in reality are just links to public hosted images the buyer does not own
  3. Click-Wrap Agreements - an NFT is equivalent to an hyperlink and you can't own an hyperlink
  4. Smart Contracts - are programs and not necessarily real, valid contracts. They cannot be enforced
  5. Copyrights - NTFs do not replace the copyright law and do not give the buyer copyright right, just a license to use something which might change at any time!
  6. Art created by artificial intelligence - cannot be copyrighted as law says only humans can create "art", another extra reason Bored Apes and the like are not art and cannot be protected by law
  7. NFTs - are a market manipulation to sell fake art by creating artificial scarcity in the market and people who buy them are getting nothing but a limited license, there is absolutely no consumer protection
  8. IPFS - makes the scam worse as the destination resource of those ipfs links embedded in NFTs smart contracts can change at any time

Conclusion: a wise buyer should not invest in non-fungible tokens.
