Journalists were already so frightened before the Assange case that they didn’t risk publishing the war crime.
To illustrate the inhumanity of the system, the following anecdote should be mentioned: The secret service stole Assange’s shaving kit from the Equadorian embassy so that he would look bearded when he was arrested. They did this to downgrade his credibility in public by making him look so scruffy.
The rule of #law is not guaranteed in the #West if those in #power agree to break it.

THEN I REMEMBER how I did the same, how I was in that same state of #denial, for most of my life, even when I was vegetarian: I still ate cheese, curd, eggs, and I wore leather shoes and belts, thus showing the other animals that I am powerful enough to clothe me in their skins, a permanent menace to them!

Kamil Zandkhani, a young man from Ilam and one of the detainees of the #WomanLifeFreedom protests, committed suicide and ended his life a few hours after being summoned to the intelligence department of his town.
He was arrested twice last year and attempted suicide once due to the ill treatment by the IRI security forces.

Alarm sounded over 'prison-like' conditions in UK #immigration centres
A new report has urged UK authorities to make a raft of improvements inside immigrant detention centres, including detention conditions and staffing issues.
That's according to a new report by the European Committee for the Prevention of #Torture (CPT) released on Thursday.
During a visit to the country between March and April 2023, it flagged up several issues surrounding the uncertainty of how long migrants will be detained, "prison-like" conditions in centres and the treatment of those displaying symptoms of mental illness.
The UK government blasted the report, saying it did not "recognise much" of its content.

Iran regime have executed 4 Kurdish prisoners today claiming them to be Mossad operatives and planned to place bombs in several industrial facilities in Isfahan last year.

Ukraine invites China to participate in Global Peace Summit
Ukraine has invited Chinese President Xi Jinping to participate in the upcoming #GlobalPeaceSummit in Switzerland aimed at building support for the Ukrainian peace formula, Deputy Presidential Office head Ihor Zhovkva told Reuters in an interview.
China and Russia have strengthened their economic and political ties amid a Western push to isolate Moscow following its full-scale invasion of Ukraine. China has offered to mediate the conflict but has not condemned Russia's actions and repeatedly abstained from voting in UN resolutions on the war in Ukraine.

Alabama condemned for nitrogen gas execution: ‘They intended to torture him’
State’s ‘slow and agonizing’ execution of Kenneth Smith using an untested method labeled as cruel by experts and advocates
Alabama faced widespread condemnation after the state executed Kenneth Eugene Smith on Thursday evening using nitrogen gas, the first time the practice has been used in the United States to kill someone.
Smith’s execution by “nitrogen hypoxia” took around 22 minutes, according to media witnesses, who were led into a viewing room at the William C Holman correctional facility in Atmore shortly before 8 pm local time.
Smith was fitted with a face mask. He used sign language to say “I love you” to witnesses in the viewing room, and in his final statement he said: “Tonight, Alabama caused humanity to take a step backward.”
After the nitrogen gas began flowing, Smith convulsed on the gurney for several minutes. The state had previously said the nitrogen gas would cause Smith to lose consciousness in seconds and die within minutes, according to the Associated Press.
“I’ve been to four previous executions and I’ve never seen a condemned inmate thrash in the way that Kenneth Smith reacted to the nitrogen gas,” Lee Hedgepeth, a journalist who witnessed the execution, told the BBC’s Newsday programme.
Jeff Hood, Smith’s spiritual adviser, was in the death chamber when Smith was killed. In a tearful television interview with CNN, he said Smith “popped up on the gurney over and over and over again. He shook the whole gurney”.
“I have never, ever seen anything like that,” he said. “That was torture.”

Their requests included the release of all political prisoners, the respect of the rights to freedom of expression and of association, upholding the rights of women, migrants, and religious minorities, the abolition of torture and death penalty, a reform of the justice system, and a redistribution of the country’s wealth.
But instead of complying with their human rights obligations and starting a dialogue with civil society actors, Saudi authorities have repressed every form of dissent. (...)

"I have had double pneumonia (both lungs) as well as pneumothorax and a very severe case of edema (swelling of the body). All this started in mid-October, but was ignored by the prison. They only admitted I had pneumonia at a Dec. 22 hearing. I am about to have a procedure to reduce the edema pressure in my lungs, which is causing me extreme shortness of breath, to the point of passing out after minimal activity, or even just talking for 2 minutes."
There is not much else to say. Lira was a controversial figure due to his previous stint as a dating advice coach, but that did not make him deserving of death by the Ukrainian regime. For all the accusations made against Russia, no American journalist or figure has died in Russian captivity, while an American citizen has now not only died in Ukrainian captivity, but under various forms of torture, at that. He described some of that #torture in his final video, including things like his eyeballs being scraped by sharp objects and other ghoulishly medieval techniques. But of course, no one in the Nazi-complicit US regime cares; another in a long line of gross hypocrisies from the people that brought you the farcical “Rule of Law” and “Rules Based Order”.
