Meshell Ndegeocello: Tiny Desk Concert
Experiencing all of the Tiny Desks this Black Music Month has made many of my dreams come true, and Meshell Ndegeocello’s performance was no exception. For 30 years the Grammy-winning artist’s music has cast an unflinching gaze on love, race, sexuality and religion. Her new album out in August, No More Water: The Gospel of James Baldwin, zooms out to focus on the love of humanity as inspired by the writer and civil rights activist. Her performance includes three songs from that album, starting with “Travel,” which features Kenita Miller’s swirling whispers alongside Jake Sherman’s organ and Ndegeocello’s bass, which ushers us into her church service. “Thus Sayeth The Lorde,” references the writings of Audre Lorde: “If I did not define myself for myself, I’d be crunched into other people’s fantasies for me and eaten alive".....” (Nikki Birch)

Be a voice not an echo.
In a world of whispers, rise and speak,
A voice unique, no echoes weak.
Forge your path where none have tread,
Let your thoughts be boldly spread.
In shadows where the echoes hide,
Step into light, with strength and pride.
Be the voice that breaks the mold,
A story new, a truth untold.
Echoes fade in time's embrace,
But voices leave a lasting trace.
So dare to dream, to shout, to show,
Be a voice, let your spirit glow.

A quotation from Hazlitt, William
It is erroneous to tie down individual genius to ideal models. Each person should do that, not which is best in itself, even supposing this coudl be known, but that which he can do best, which he will find out if left to himself. Spenser could not have written Paradise Lost, nor Milton the Faerie Queene. Those who aim at faultless regularity will only produce mediocrity, and no one ever approaches perfection except by stealth, and unknown to themselves.
William Hazlitt (1778-1830) English writer
“Thoughts on Taste”, Edinburgh Magazine (1819-07)

Sidonie-Gabrielle Colette (Saint-Sauveur-en-Puisaye, 1873 – Paris, 1954), an extravagant and enigmatic figure, was one of the best writers of the 20th century. At the age of twenty-seven she began publishing the popular Claudine series of novels (1900-1914), which, however, appeared under the signature of her husband, Henry Gauthier-Villars. After the divorce, she made a living as an actress and dancer, and published a large number of narrative works, among which, in addition to Chéri (Acantilado 2018), La Vagabonde (1910), Sido (1929), La Chatte (1933) stand and Gigi (1944). A member of the Royal Academy of Belgium, she was also the first woman to preside over the prestigious Goncourt Academy.
Colette and Willy separated in 1906, although their divorce was not final until 1910. Colette had no access to the sizable earnings of the Claudine books – the copyright belonged to Willy – and until 1912 she initiated a stage career in music halls across France, sometimes playing Claudine in sketches from her own novels, earning barely enough to survive and often hungry and ill. To make ends meet, she turned more seriously to journalism in the 1910s.[15] Around this time she also became an avid amateur photographer. This period of her life is recalled in La Vagabonde (1910), which deals with women's independence in a male society, a theme to which she would regularly return in future works.

#Amazon restricts authors from self-publishing more than three #books a day after #AI concerns
The new sets of rules come after Amazon removed suspected AI-generated books that were falsely listed as being written by the #author #JaneFriedman. Earlier this month, books about #mushroom foraging listed on Amazon were reported as likely to have been AI-generated and therefore containing potentially dangerous advice. AI-generated travel books have also flooded the site.
The AI #attack on #humanity has begun. Reviews as well as books are coming under the #control of AI. Soon it will no longer be possible to buy books from humans, because they can no longer be found in the confusion.

From https://jimhumble.co/special-announcement/:
Special Announcement
September 5, 2023 @12am ET
It is with deep emotions that we announce the passing of #JimHumble, a #remarkable #inventor, #author and #humanitarian, #who passed on peacefully on September 1, #2023 at the age of #90.
Jim Humble was born on December 27, 1932 in the US State of Alabama. He led an interesting life that was full of challenges and contributions to mankind that continue to impact millions around the world. He lived a very humble life that matches his name—he was always ready to give to those in need.
In his early years he was involved in engineering which he carried through to his mid-life as an expert in mining. His creative mind led to various inventions and books on the topic. In 1996, his mining career took an unexpected turn toward the world of health when a team of men working on his expedition came down with malaria. All he had with him at the time were some water treatment drops that he offered to the sick men. To everyone’s surprise, they quickly improved after taking a few drops.
This experience inspired Jim to research how one of the world’s greatest plagues could so easily be stopped. He discovered that the water treatment drops he used in the jungle was sodium chlorite and that when taken internally in very small amounts would convert to just enough chlorine dioxide to kill malaria parasites. During the months that followed, in his travels through the jungle, he helped many others recover from malaria and other illnesses. When Jim himself came down with a bad case of malaria, he went into the city to be tested, wanting to document the fact that he indeed had malaria. Sure enough he was malaria positive and he promptly took his own drops. In a few short hours, after feeling much better, he took a second test which read malaria negative. Jim walked out of the clinic, stood on the sidewalk, and said to himself, “I’ve got to take this to the world.” And so, his greatest journey began.
He nicknamed his discovery #MMS (chlorine dioxide) and wrote numerous books on the subject that have been translated into many languages.
Jim Humble’s legacy is that he had the will and the determination to freely give his discovery to the world, and as a result, millions of lives have been changed. Through his efforts many health uses of chlorine dioxide have been brought to light worldwide.
Jim was deeply burdened with the current plight of mankind and the blatant manifestation of evil in the world. He was a firm believer in the spiritual realm, and acknowledged that there were powers that must be defeated. He has now transitioned to the other side, to join in the fight for freedom from a new vantage point.
Jim’s wish and wise counsel for others through the years has always been:
Take your maintenance dose of chlorine dioxide (MMS) daily.
Do some daily jumps to strengthen your bones.
Always do the right thing.
And, help one another.
Before his passing, he was insistent that we must “Be careful!”. He said, “Be careful, because if you aren’t you might screw up. Be careful about what’s happening around you. You gotta be careful both physically and spiritually, so you’ll be ok. Like soldiers we have to always be on watch.”
We are not saying goodbye to our dear Jim, because we know that he lives on—there are no “Goodbye’s…” Only, “’Til we meet again…” In recent years his closing words in interviews were most often, “Get my book, read it, learn about MMS (chlorine dioxide), tell your friends, tell other people, and use MMS (chlorine dioxide) for maintenance.”
If you wish to pay tribute to his great man… join us in endeavoring to do as he taught and lived—spread the word about Jim’s incredible discovery—it may save lives!

#amazing #stories of #life in and with the #fauna and #flora of the #Amazon, and a bit about in #India and #Africa. Shortform folks, please click on any 1 or 2 minute portion, anywhere past the intro.
Duration of vid is 3:34:57. I have had a weird/novel day, got to bed last night at just afternoon today. I recall brewing more coffee at about 4 am, with the intention of seeing what would happen. Well now I know lol. Got up at near 8 pm, soaked in a bunch of YouTube vid wisdom and Avalon wisdom, and thought I’d retreat for a bit.
Anyways, the first time stamp I thought to record was 2:~19:, where they get talking about aliens, then segue into humanity, future, meaning of life.
2:53:+ - Fake (AI) alien porn.
2:~57: - climate change.
3:02: - ~Life choices.
3:17:49 - “Vetpaws”, an organization to help some part of nature.
3:29:05 - #Ayahausca experience. Kicked their asses. They soon learned that the old #shaman had overcooked the brew, and had kicked his own ass too. They went looking for him, and found him sleeping naked in a stream. Said he retired after that.
3:31:30 - Why are we here?
High grade thought, from a New York City boy that can spend weeks alone in the seething life of the Earth’s jungles.
Funniest was him saying that mosquitoes are way worse in Finland, and even just worse in New Jersey, than there. This after he spoke about a panther (leopard?) checking him out in his hammock, and a bunch of crocodiles/black-caimans waking him up in his tent because he had left a part-devoured fish out at his campsite. ~“No, they just wanted the fish. One big one swam alongside when I got floating downstream the next morning, just curious.”.
