#mistake

anonymiss@despora.de

It is our #mistake. We should double check it. Not only double, but triple check it. One more thing I want to add is that people should not consider Google as the standard. #Google is just a search engine, and any person can post anything on it. Don't just believe it. Just cross check!

And at the end it's your mistake that Google is full of #fake so don't blame the search engine for it!

A quotation from Jung

Mistakes are, after all, the foundation of truth, and if a man does not know what a thing is, it is at least an increase in knowledge if he knows what it is not.

Carl Jung (1875-1961) Swiss psychologist

A quotation from Gracián, Baltasar

The greatest of sages can commit one mistake, but not two; he may fall into error, but he doesn’t lie down and make his home there.

[En un descuido puede caer el mayor sabio, pero en dos no; y de paso, que no de asiento.]

Baltasar Gracián y Morales (1601-1658) Spanish Jesuit priest, writer, philosopher

A quotation from Hogan, Robert

There’s a reason narcissists don’t learn from mistakes and that’s because they never get past the first step, which is admitting that they made one.

team, team, team team…

In Germany, everyone is his/her own team, there are only one-man, one-woman teams.

teams not necessarily help each other

the best “help” you can get from another “team” is “it is somewhere in the (incomplete, outdated, no body cares) dokuwiki”

often they also work against each other

so actually there are no teams

without social skills and development as human being

the only interface that still exists is text and money

“give me that, here the money”

a “helpful” “community” isn’t it?

which reminds me of:

have no problem with that, just please do not raise any expectations that it might be otherwise.

“we are a hip, cool and fun company” (no)

just say it out loud: “we are a boring company, our systems are a grown mess and we are about to lose control, want to fix it?”

well if you read & understood K.I.S.S (simplify, simplify, simplify, standardize, automate) it could be fixed over the course of several years, if not: no.

to ignore K.I.S.S means: leaving behind an badly documented mess, either for others to fix or to die (delete & restart).

Any newcomer’s motivation will die fast, when being stuck without help and with outdated documentation.

Aka: the company is doomed to die in a self made mess. (Don’t tell me i did not warn ya)

Some will ride the rainbow, until it dies.

You just killed your own company and your job, but not in the way McIlroy envisioned it:

“As a programmer, it is your job to put yourself out of business. What you do today can be automated tomorrow.”

Doug McIlroy

(probably quoting JFKennedy)

PS: those guys at ubuntu surely also never have heard of K.I.S.S

the only reason ubuntu is still a thing, is that it is based on K.I.S.S respecting Debian

also: systemd has become “creepware” (it used to do startup, now it also does network config, WHY? WHY? (because it want’s to rule them all)

A quotation by Gaiman, Neil

I hope that in this year to come, you make mistakes.

Because if you are making mistakes, then you are making new things, trying new things, learning, living, pushing yourself, changing yourself, changing your world. You’re doing things you’ve never done before, and more importantly, you’re Doing Something.

So that’s my wish for you, and all of us, and my wish for myself. Make New Mistakes. Make glorious, amazing mistakes. Make mistakes nobody’s ever made before. Don’t freeze, don’t stop, don’t worry that it isn’t good enough, or it isn’t perfect, whatever it is: art, or love, or work or family or life.

Whatever it is you’re scared of doing, Do it.

Make your mistakes, next year and forever.

Neil Gaiman (b. 1960) British fabulist

The moment an artificial #intelligence accidentally wiped out #humanity...

The following section is taken from the #essay by #BruceSchneier about The Coming AI Hackers:

Imagine a robotic vacuum assigned the task of cleaning up any mess it sees. It might disable its vision so that it can’t see any messes, or cover messes up with opaque materials so it doesn’t see them.72 In 2018, an entrepreneurial—or perhaps just bored—programmer wanted his robot vacuum to stop bumping into furniture. He trained an #AI by rewarding it for not hitting the bumper sensors.73 Instead of learning not to bump into things, the AI learned to drive the vacuum backwards because there are no bumper sensors on the back of the device.

source: https://www.belfercenter.org/publication/coming-ai-hackers

This means, in its #consequence, that AI would unhesitatingly wipe out humanity if that would bring it closer to the programmed #reward. We could not even call this AI #evil, because it has no emotions at all and knows no human #morality. Ultimately, it would not be the AI's #mistake either, but in fact the fault of unclean, incomplete programming. Now look at the quality of today's software with Trojans, viruses, backdoors, spam and all that crap. Does anyone seriously believe that the #military and intelligence services do not use all the software possible? Against fully autonomous #combat #robots, one can only defend oneself with combat robots. Either with quantity or better AI. Once #Skynet is activated, the solution could be to wipe out humanity, because without humans there are no more conflicts on Earth and world #peace is, after all, the highest reward for such a combat #robot.
