#trust

I can't believe all that it is written in that article, but I will need to think about some of it and will try to find some evidence for those claims:

One of the primary faults in the way our societies function is that the systems in place have all been designed to operate under the assumption that the essential cogs behave both morally and ethically. This is true for both the micro and macro levels, and is a consequence of the general illusion—or self-deluded wishful thinking—that we all live in a relatively ‘high trust’ society.

When it comes to analyzing the actions of government, political, and bureaucratic figures, one must always prudently start from the position that they are acting in an unethical, conspiratorial way against the best interests of the populace. It is a kind of tautology: corporate and governmental figures are corrupt because their goals and objectives conflict with those of the people, forcing them to pursue those goals in underhanded fashion; and they invariably counterpose the people in such a way because they are corrupt.

We see time and time again a kind of ‘theater’ when corporate or governmental officials are called to task. Whether it’s a Congressional grilling of Dr. Fauci, where soft balls are pitched and his answers taken to record at face value, or like recently, Visa and Mastercard execs being raked by a ‘fiery’ Josh Hawley:

It is our #mistake. We should double check it. Not only double, but triple check it. One more thing I want to add is that people should not consider Google as the standard. #Google is just a search engine, and any person can post anything on it. Don't just believe it. Just cross check!

And at the end it's your mistake that Google is full of #fake so don't blame the search engine for it!

Americans' #Trust in #Media Remains at Trend Low

Trust in political and civic institutions highest for local and state #governments, lowest for media and #Congress

In an age of #fake news, #propaganda, #maga, #Twitter #bots and Russian #troll factories, we actually need trustworthy journalism. I must once again explicitly point out that the principle of "trust nobody" does not mean no longer believing official sources and only consuming unfiltered news from Russian-controlled #Telegram channels and basing your world view on them.

"Trust nobody but don't stop thinking - if you belive the earth is flat you are far beyond a border no one should pass!"

The economic war, intended to spur Russians to overthrow their government, has failed spectacularly. The ruble did not collapse despite sanctions on the Russian central bank. Nor has the economy.

Instead an alternative economic, commercial and financial system that excludes the West has arisen with China, India and Russia in the lead, and most of Asia, Africa and Latin America taking part in what appears to be the final chapter of Western colonialism. The sanctions instead backfired on the West, especially in Europe.

The information war has failed across the world. Only the United States and Europe, which consider itself “the world,” believe their own “information.”

Mein erster Kontakt mit Frankreich war die Band Trust mit ihren politischen und sozialkritischen Texten in den frühen 80ern. Die LP Répression von 1980 sei hier heiß empfohlen! <3

#Windows #Recall demands an extraordinary level of #trust that #Microsoft hasn’t earned

source: https://arstechnica.com/ai/2024/06/windows-recall-demands-an-extraordinary-level-of-trust-that-microsoft-hasnt-earned/

This, as many users in #infosec communities on social media immediately pointed out, sounds like a potential #security #nightmare. That’s doubly true because Microsoft says that by default, Recall’s screenshots take no pains to redact sensitive information, from usernames and passwords to health care information to NSFW site visits. By default, on a #PC with 256GB of storage, Recall can store a couple dozen gigabytes of data across three months of PC usage, a huge amount of personal data.

#Microsoft’s new AI-enabled laptops will have a ‘photographic #memory’ of your virtual activity

source: https://fortune.com/2024/05/20/microsofts-ai-laptops-photographic-memory-nadella/

The new features will include Windows Recall, giving the #AI assistant what Microsoft describes as “photographic memory” of a person’s virtual activity. Microsoft promises to protect users’ #privacy by giving them the option to filter out what they don’t want tracked, and keeping the tracking on the device.

Of course, the company, which has never been known for its extensive security efforts, guarantees security and privacy. It sounds more like a horror story to me if Microsoft now collects even more data.

Guten Tag euch!
Eure Freundin @Aga. 🤗🍀❤️🌈🌞

Hackers exploited #Windows 0-day for 6 months after #Microsoft knew of it

Source: https://arstechnica.com/security/2024/03/hackers-exploited-windows-0-day-for-6-months-after-microsoft-knew-of-it/

Even after Microsoft patched the #vulnerability last month, the company made no mention that the North Korean threat group #Lazarus had been using the vulnerability since at least August to install a stealthy #rootkit on vulnerable computers. The vulnerability provided an easy and stealthy means for #malware that had already gained administrative system rights to interact with the Windows #kernel. Lazarus used the vulnerability for just that. Even so, Microsoft has long said that such admin-to-kernel elevations don’t represent the crossing of a security boundary, a possible explanation for the time Microsoft took to fix the vulnerability.
