Reflection

A Walk with Water

The conditions that make life possible are rapidly changing. Reckoning with this reality on the cusp of another dry season that may very well ravage his community, 30-year old filmmaker Emmett Brennan embarks on a remarkable journey to find stories of hope and healing. Emmett sets out to walk 200 miles next to the iconic but aging Los Angeles aqueduct, where he encounters ecological iconoclasts, #indigenous voices, and #permaculture designers who are challenging the status quo on how we use Earth’s most precious resource. The film delves into a profound and far reaching look at our relationship with water and offers a vision for how to radically redesign our lives around it.

Reflection: a walk with water takes a refreshing approach to confronting our current environmental and systematic troubles, showing how Los Angeles and other parts of California are bellwethers for change. The film features original music from multiple Grammy winner, Jacob Collier, who is Executive Music Producer of the film. With voices and stories that speak to today’s younger generations, Reflection is both a personal meditation on water as well as a practical road map for positive change.

The Economic Reform the World needs

Dear reader,

first, a disclaimer:

  • only god & nobody is perfect
  • humans are not god
  • thus humans make mistakes, but if given the chance, humans can learn and improve to create “a better world”.
    • no man made product or construct or system will ever be perfect, but does that mean, we should have never left the cave in the first place? (no of course not)

The Economic Reform the World needs

Is a simple one, it can be put in one sentence, but to enact it, will require massive reforms:

“Value those, that add true value to society”

Let’s compare two examples:

  • case a) a lady cleans a toilet
  • case b) bank A sells house X to bank B

Which of the two cases add more value to society?

money wise case b) can create much more profit, but does it add value to society?

Given the fact, that a lot of houses are purposely left empty (not for rent), just to speculate on rising house prices? (a good example of the perversion that capitalism has become, if unchecked, by a smart, fast moving gov)

In this case, case a) does not only add more value to society, it also does not purposefully harm society as case b) does, by denying access to resources, people need to survive.

So pay those well, that ACTUALLY add value to society, and tax those high, that are malicious to society, and you have a nation that automatically creates value – in the true meaning of the word.

plus: go after the (financial) criminals

all those well-known tax heavens, need serious threats of boycott, if they don’t start changing their business model (Cuba style of trade embargoes).

  • don’t allow financial crimes of the bast to become time-barred and financial criminals to get away with it
  • don’t cut deals with the bank robbers “oh if you pay back 80% of what you stole, it’s okay”
  • give the investigators the means they need, to identify the financial criminals

Failing to do so, will seriously damage the trust of the people in democracy.

the philanthropy bullshit: first extract, than give (some) back?

ok some philantrophy is better than no philantropy
 but
 look at this case:

Harvard’s “concept” of adding value to society:

“I think it’s important to remember where you came from.”

“Giving back is part of my core philosophy,” says Kim Wagner PhD ’94, who has given consistently to the Graduate School Fund for twenty years.”

“She came to the Graduate of Arts and Sciences (GSAS) for a doctorate in pharmacology, intending to go into academia.”

“Instead, she was inspired to take on the world of biopharmaceutical consulting.”

“I felt like an industry position was the best place for me to add value to society,” says Wagner, who spent the next twenty-five years at the Boston Consulting Group and McKinsey & Company.”

let me translate that:

  • you went to Harvard
  • studied hard to get good grades
  • to then go on to a company that does lobby work for BigPharma (it is called “consulting”), meaning, trying to influence the law makers to make laws in favor of BigPharma, in order to EXTRACT a profit from society, while (maybe) curing some disease, maybe while causing more other disease (drug A helps against disease A, while having side effect B, drug B helps against side effect B, while causing side effect C an so on
)
  • you profit from a corrupt and exploitative system
  • then you donate some to whatever entity to feel better
  • Here have to quote Bregman (again):

    • ### “the Rich are not paying their fair share” (Youtube)

    ### “how to prevent a broad social backlash – the answer is simple – stop talking about philanthropy and start talking about taxes avoidance – taxes – taxes – all the rest is bullshit” (Youtube)

Dear reader, if you are reading this blog post, and dedicated time and brain-resources (energy) thinking about the value of it’s content – if it makes sense or not – how to improve it – what is missing – you just contributed positively to society as well!

What would contribute even more positively: the information from which, action can be derived from.

Here is a short video just know make you belive in your fears and how to overcome them
Am I afraid ?
The answer will always be YES.
Accepting your fear is the only way to overcome them. A lot of times denial can only cause difficulties and problems. By giving yourself the time and awareness about your feelings and your fears you will eventually be able to accept adapt and move on or work toward what you want. Becoming aware of your fear is the next step, so began to ask yourself

Why am I afraid ?
The one common answer will be not fitting in. It is always easier to choose the Parth Which leads us the easy way out. Which helps us fit in with people, society and everything else, but why do you want to fit in if you don’t want to do what makes you fit in with your own self. Being unsure about yourself is not good but it always is the easy way out. It’s not easy to take the first step but it always is about the first step. Being afraid of being judges and unloved and being an outsider will always come to you but being different from the rest will make you feel sure about yourself.
Now that you know you are afraid and why you are afraid ask yourself..

So what if I am afraid ?
NOTHING.
It’s okay to be afraid all it means is there is something you care deeply about. It’s okay to have fears as long as you are willing to explore them it’s okay to have fears. You will always be afraid of being unsure, being loved, wanting to fit in wanting to be accepted. You will always be afraid of not having them. But just give it a step take the step and see what is meant for you. Take that step and see where you are leading yourself. Lying on the bed with the same old thing you are doing is going yo be safe but it’s not going to make you fit in with yourself. It’s all about taking the chance and giving it a shot.
You might fail but these failures are the little things that will teach you to do the right thing next Time. Go for what ever makes you happy go for what you want to do. Do all the crazy stuff you’ve been wanting to do from your childhood chase your dreams your crazy amazing dreams chase them !!!

Chicago teacher shows concern for fellow passengers

https://www.bizpacreview.com/2021/12/30/chicago-teacher-makes-most-of-four-hour-quarantine-in-planes-bathroom-after-testing-positive-midflight-1182347/

On a #flight from Newark, N.J., to #Reykjavik, Iceland, Marisa Fotieo reportedly began experiencing a sore throat, although she had tested negative several times before leaving.

She had packed some of the test kits in her carry-on bag and took one to the #bathroom to take it.

When it gave a #positive result for the virus, Fotieo said she “freaked out,” and an #Icelandair flight attendant named Rocky suggested she stay put for the time being while she sorted things out.

When it turned out that there were no empty seats on the packed flight that could provide a way to properly #isolate her from the rest of the passengers, Fotieo graciously volunteered to remain in the lavatory for the duration.
