ISW: Russia exploiting far-right #nationalism in Europe against Ukraine

Russia is taking advantage of European far-right nationalist movements' increasingly vocal claims to Ukrainian #territory, the Institute for the Study of War (ISW) reported in its daily assessment on Jan. 29.

Far-right movements in #Hungary and #Romania raised concern this past week after party leaders in their respective countries claimed parts of Ukrainian territory.

#Brazil's #Defence Ministry said earlier this week it had "intensified defensive actions" along its northern #border as it monitored the territorial #dispute.

Oil is still a guarantee for the outbreak of wars.

The conclusion of the U.S. Indian Claims Commission in 1978 resulted in a map identical to this, which reflected the various claims before the commission and its courts. In some instances, the land marked here as "unceded" was not necessarily land that wasn't included by treaty, but in some cases was land that was promised and reserved for specific uses (i.e., hunting lands). In other cases, the map simply reflected the original territory of a certain #Tribe or #Tribes within which claims for uncompensated takings would be recognized. "A mentally competent patient has an absolute right to refuse to #consent to medical #treatment, for any reason, #rational or #irrational, or for no #reason at all, even where that decision may lead to his or her own #death."

This establishes the #principle of a legal right to #refuse medical treatment, preventative or curative. The ruling has been used in many cases and upheld.

ICCPR Article 7:
"No one shall be subjected to #torture or to #cruel, #inhuman or degrading #treatment or #punishment. In particular, no one shall be subjected without his #free #consent to medical or #scientific #experimentation."

ICCPR Article 12 Section 1:
"Everyone #lawfully within the #territory of a #State shall, within that territory, have the right to #liberty of movement and #freedom to choose his residence."

The UK is a ratified signatory nation of the ICCPR and has a #legal obligation to abide by the Articles within the treaty.
