The Ferrogrão is a 1,000-kilometer railway that Cargill wishes to cut through our lands to transport soy. Soy produced from the destruction of the Cerrado—a critical ecosystem south of the Amazon.

This railway will destroy 2,000 square kilometers of the Amazon forests we live in, including Munduruku lands that are currently federally protected #Indigenous Territory. It will open our lands to more land grabbers and illegal miners and loggers that already invade and burn our lands and murder our people.

The Brazilian Supreme Court has ruled that the Ferrogrão is illegal, but economic interests like Cargill want to change the laws to allow for construction.

Cargill has said that anyone who opposes the Ferrogrão is “irresponsible.” We are fighting for our lives. For our land. For our cultures. For our children and grandchildren. This is not irresponsible.

What is irresponsible is for your company to make promises to end deforestation while continuing to expand into our territories and giving license to others to do the same.

You have the power to stop this."...

#Agile #Project #Management: Today I got the #proof for something I always suspected.

A core element of agile project management is the daily standup, where each project member says what they are working on. This should be done according to the textbook, briefly while standing up, and in no case should it degenerate into a discussion or be too verbose. In the case of globally distributed teams or in home work, you can of course not force anyone to stand up.

Unfortunately, it happens again and again that project members believe that whoever says a lot is also more important. In a good agile project, this should be counteracted.

In my project, I said what I was doing every day. Short and to the point, but with all the necessary information, while my colleagues often gave me a few minutes of empty phrases. Today my project manager, who participated in every standup, said that he didn't know exactly what I was working on. First of all, he never listened during the standup and only evaluated the project members according to their speaking time :(

Around 1995 my uncle showed me an #AI that could successfully guess what a user was thinking about within a particular category, similar to the game 20 questions.

My uncle's name was Alan Woodhouse, a 156 IQ computer #programmer who worked for what was then called the #Wellcome Foundation.

Unfortunately Alan is no longer alive so I am no longer able to converse with him, but I wanted to mention that the kind of AI that is now being made available #online in the public domain existed in 1995 if not earlier.

Unless there has been little to no AI #development since 1995, it seems obvious that what we're seeing in the public domain is at least 30 years behind where the cutting edge of #covert AI development truly is.

I just laugh because everything is technical debt, eventually.

Question: How to store contributor info?

Hi all, i'm considering how to store information about people who are contributing to #FSWB projects. And do so in a privacy-minded way

One option i see is to store public information on a wiki page, similar to this: https://codeberg.org/fswb/fswb/wiki/Contributors

Information would then be available to everyone, but maybe that is fine if the information shared in the document was already public? Things like:
* matrix user name
* which applications the person is interested in
* what types of contribution the person wants to make (programming, testing, using and provide feedback, etc)

Information that wouldn't be stored:
* email
