JaneGoudal has asked Khamenei to release the group of environmentalists who are awaiting a trial in ziran.

In a letter to Iran's supreme leader, she asked him to show merci and extend the anmesty given to many prisoners to include the group who's actions exposed the corruption and criminal organization inside the government agencies responsible for taking care of the environment.

It is anti-Semitic to say Israel perpetrates the crime of apartheid against the Palestinian people, according to the European Union.

That would mean that major rights groups including Human Rights Watch, Amnesty International and Israel’s B’Tselem – which is funded by the EU – are guilty of anti-Jewish bigotry, according to Brussels.

The EU’s extraordinary claim came in response to a question from several pro-Israel members of the European Parliament directed towards the EU’s executive body, the European Commission.

The lawmakers stated that Amnesty’s report last February “alleges that apartheid was inherent in the founding of the State of Israel in 1948 and has been built on and maintained by successive Israeli governments.”

The lawmakers asked if EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell also views Israel as an “apartheid state.”

They also wanted to know if Borrell considers Amnesty’s report to be “anti-Semitic” under the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA) definition of anti-Semitism, “given that it claims that the existence of the State of Israel is a racist endeavor (i.e. an apartheid state).”

#Amnesty #Iran: This morning’s execution of Iranian-British national #AlirezaAkbari, a former Iranian official, by Iran's authorities again displays their abhorrent assault on the right to life. The use of the #DeathPenalty is appalling under all circumstances.

In the case of Alireza Akbari it is particularly horrific given the violations he revealed he was subjected to in prison, including #torture & other ill-treatment through being forcibly administered chemical substances & being held in prolonged solitary confinement which caused him great distress, and forced to make recorded “confessions” repeatedly, w/these recordings later played in court during his trial.

Alireza Akbari was convicted and sentenced to death for “spreading corruption on earth” (efsad-e fel arz), which @amnesty has consistently held fails to meet requirements for clarity and precision needed in criminal law and breaches the principle of legality and legal certainty.
The #UK government must fully investigate Alireza Akbari’s allegations of torture and other ill-treatment, and pursue all avenues to hold the Iranian authorities to account, including by exercising universal jurisdiction to criminally investigate all officials reasonably suspected of involvement in crimes under international law and issue arrest warrants where there is sufficient admissible evidence.

Nooit hebben westerlingen daar een excuus voor nodig gehad. Pechvogels uit arme delen van de wereld offeren hun gezondheid, leven en kinderen voor mazzelaars die willen funshoppen en vakantievliegen. Waarom zou de Europeaan de grens trekken bij het WK? Misschien werd de uitwisseling van hun welzijn voor ons plezier nu iets te direct en te zichtbaar. Misschien werd de cocktail van rijke, corrupte oude mannen en arme, uitgeknepen, jonge kerels iets te giftig voor de sociaal betrokken voetbalfan. (...)

Niet kijken zal de arbeiders of hun nabestaanden niet helpen, geld wel. De FIFA en Qatar weigeren arbeiders naar behoren te compenseren, maar voor de supporters bestaat daarvoor een groeiend aantal mogelijkheden. De Cruyff Foundation verkoopt een T-shirt waarvan de opbrengst naar een organisatie gaat die banen creëert in Nepal. Rechtstreeks bij deze Pro2 foundation storten kan misschien ook. Amnesty International ontvangt graag handtekeningen bij een petitie, met het verwerken van eenmalige donaties hebben zij zeker geen probleem. Ook FNV helpt de WK-arbeiders met donorgeld. (...)
