Unfortunately, #CNN has dropped out of my #newsfeed as a serious #news source and I will no longer link to them.
What they write there is wrong on so many levels that it is downright cheeky.
Their goal with tracking is to undermine my privacy as much as possible and not to protect it. Then they boldly lie to my face that they want to protect my privacy but I have to deactivating my blocking add-ons for it?
Please don't fall for it and steer clear of websites that lie to you so shabbily!
I use Firefox with "uBlock Origin", "Cookie AutoDelete" and "I don't care about cookies". In my opinion, this is the minimum configuration for safe surfing on the ad-infested Internet. I can no longer take anyone who doesn't like this seriously.

Keeping pace with YouTube will likely become even more challenging next year, when Google’s #Chrome browser adopts the Manifest V3 standard, which significantly limits what #extensions are allowed to do. #Modras said that under Manifest V3, whenever an ad blocker wants to update its blocklist — again, something they may need to do multiple times a day — it will have to release a full #update and undergo a review “which can take anywhere between [a] few hours to even a few weeks.”
“Through #Manifest #V3, #Google will close the door for innovation in the ad #blocking landscape and introduce another layer of #gatekeeping that will slow down how #ad #blockers can react to new #ads and #online #tracking methods,” he said.
Anyone who knows #Firefox and still uses Chrome out of conviction is beyond help.

Tested it with a few news sites, where previously I was prevented from seeing articles without a login. Seems to work! ;-)
(You should, however, consider financially supporting independent journalism, where you see value!)Also in some cases, like the New York Times, using its Tor ‘onion’ site displays articles in full, that are behind a paywall on the WWW.
Another helpful trick I found to be helpful, when faced with cookie notices and other shenanigans:
- Use F9 for reader mode (both regular Firefox and Tor Browser)
- Not only will this present a much friendlier and, well, more readable version of the site, but also skips right by most annoyances from the ‘normal’ page display. F9 again to exit reader mode.
- Best used in conjunction with F11 (full-screen mode; F11 again to exit).
