"When feminist writer Margaret Atwood wrote, “men are afraid that women will laugh at them. Women are afraid that men will kill them,” she could have easily replaced men with White people and women with Black people to make an equally valid social commentary. White people are afraid of the embarrassment of being called “racist,” and Black people are afraid White people’s racism will limit their earnings, diminish the quality and duration of their lives, and bar access to opportunities. Calling a White person racist when they exhibit behaviors that suggest they are is just calling a spade a spade, an accurate description, not an insult, a slur, or a permanent scarlet letter. As I wrote in #Cultured, far too many White people “treat the term racist like a life sentence,” which only stunts their growth like a rose hiding from the sunlight."

Feminists are protesting against the wave of anti-feminism that's swept South Korea

"Femi," short for feminist, has become a derogatory label for any person who speaks up about gender discrimination and women's empowerment in South Korea. Hwang, of Haeil, said asking someone if they are a "femi" in Korea is the same thing as asking if they have a mental illness.

So... I just heard that the American "Woman's" soccer team will be paid a portion if what the mens team's winning...

The media is painting it as "profit sharing"

LOL. That's called "wealth redistribution" in my book.

But what a complete #feminism #fail

They not only need men, they need those men to succeed.

Waking up to a steaming cup if schadenfreude coffee this morning:

That didn't take long.

A thing I realized pretty recently is that all the attributes of femininity (the looks, the postures, the clothes) have to be learned. "What (heterosexual) men like" is a complete fiction that women have to decide to buy into at great cost (time and money) or else face intense social shame.

This is why I'm equally respectful of the women who buy into the femme aesthetics, moves and fashion, than the ones who do not. Both these stances have an associated hefty cost, there's no default/inherent/neutral/passive femininity that can be a non-choice.

The 'Shitty #Media #Men' List Goes to #Court

source: https://nymag.com/intelligencer/article/shitty-media-men-lawsuit-moira-donegan-stephen-elliott.html

At the height of the #MeToo #movement, a magazine editor named #MoiraDonegan created a #Google spreadsheet titled “Shitty Media Men” and shared it with other #women in the #industry. For 12 hours, until Donegan took it down, women added the names of men alongside accusations that ranged from “creepy af in the DM’s” to rape. Now, five years later, the list is at the center of one of many Me Too #lawsuits playing out in the courts.

...

When women turn to channels like these, it’s usually because they lack better options. In 1990, a group of women at Brown #University wrote the names of alleged rapists on the walls of women’s bathrooms. The vice-president of university relations described them as “Magic Marker #terrorists,” but at the time, Brown didn’t have a policy to investigate rape accusations.
