#WikiLeaks founder #JulianAssange’s #extradition to the #UnitedStates from #Britain was put on hold on Tuesday after London’s High Court said the United States must provide assurances he would not face the #death #penalty.

U.S. prosecutors are seeking to put #Assange, 52, on trial on 18 counts, all bar one under the #EspionageAct, over WikiLeaks’ release of confidential U.S. military records and diplomatic cables.

Saudische Spione bei Twitter?

Die Daten zahlreicher DissidentInnen und KritikerInnen des saudichen Regimes sind von zwei ehemaligen Twitter-Mitarbeitern an saudi-arabische Behörden weitergegeben worden. Für diese Informationen erhielten die Beiden Luxusgüter, sechsstellige US-Dollarbeträge und die Aussicht auf gute Jobs.

Gegen einen der Beiden läuft jetzt ein Verfahren. Ahmad Abouammo soll zwischen 2013 und 2015 unerlaubt Daten wie IP- und E-Mail-Adressen, Telefonnummern und Geburtsdaten pseudonymer Twitter-Accounts weitergegeben haben.

Das Verfahren läuft im Gegensatz zum Auslieferungsersuchen gegen Julian Assange nicht nach dem Espionage Act mit den Julian Assange dort angedrohten 175 Jahre Haft. Obwohl durch die Weitergabe der Daten - auch wieder im Gegensatz zum Verfahren gegen Assange - nachweislich Menschen in Saudi-Arabien in Haft, unter Folter und eventuell auch zu Tode gekommen sind. Wie netzpolitik.org schreibt, drohen für satirische Tweets jahrzehntelange Haftstrafen, Folter und Hinrichtungen von RegimegegnerInnen sind keine Seltenheit.

Der zweite Twitter-Mitarbeiter, Ali Alzabarah, hat sich vor seiner Enttranung nach Saudi-Arabien abgesetzt. Er arbeitet jetzt für eine Stiftung des Kronprinzen Mohammed bin Salman. Die Daten eines Vertrauten von Khashoggi wurden von Ali Alzabarah abgefragt, in der Folge sind nun zwei seiner Brüder im Gefängnis.
