Amazon Fresh is moving away from a feature of its grocery stores where customers could skip checkout altogether.
Though it seemed completely automated, Just Walk Out relied on more than 1,000 people in India watching and labeling videos to ensure accurate checkouts. The cashiers were simply moved off-site, and they watched you as you shopped.

#Verbraucherschützer warnen vor dem Bezahlen mit #Google #Pay oder #Apple Pay. Warum weiß ich nicht, der Artikel war hinter einer Paywall. Ich finde es aber schon ein bisschen dumm, wenn man sich immer nur auf Google und Co einschießt und den Rest der Welt ignoriert. Wenn ich eine Kredit- oder Debitkarte benutze, dann werden meine Daten auch weitergegeben, z. B. durch die VISA group. Warnt da jemand vor? Was ist mit #Paypal? Die verdienen gute Kohle mit unseren #Daten.
Es gab oder gibt übrigens eine datenschutzfreundliche Alternative zu Paypal. Die nannte sich früher #Paydirekt und heute #Giropay. Aufpassen, nicht jede Bank bietet das als Bezahlservice an! Manche Banken bieten lediglich eine "Geld an Freunde senden"-Funktion an, aber eben keinen Käuferschutz.
Daher kann ich jedem nur raten, der Wert auf #Datenschutz legt, dass er sich eine Bank sucht, die Paydirekt als Bezahlservice anbietet. Leider muss ich dazu sagen, dass natürlich auch nicht jeder Shop im Internet Paydirekt unterstützt. Aber ein paar gibt es da schon.

Is there a middle ground between pay and get support or open source, don’t complain?
I have a beef with open source artificial intelligence the way it currently is presented.
It starts with promises. A new model like llama, much better than the predecessor due to more parameters.
Then everyone fine tunes models and uploads them.
Whenever you run into issues compiling, using and managing expectations, nobody is there to talk to, because “open source”.
Often, provided there’s documentation, it’s written for computers, not people.
Transformers being black boxes, you always have the choice to take it or leave it. There is no debugging, really.
Most, me included, do not know how the math behind it works, so we are at the mercy of tutorials, which detail an ultra-niche case, 1% of users can apply.

Für "nur 130$" den Reisepass online verlängern
... das können US Bürger künftig selbst machen. Glücklicherweise sind weder die Gebühren in Deutschland so hoch, noch gibt es bei uns im Neuland eine solche Möglichkeit. Wenn man sich dazu durchringt das digitale Angebot zu nutzen, muss man einige Hürden überwinden und wird bei der Durchführung mit weiteren Problemen zu kämpfen haben.
Nehmen Sie sich Zeit.
- Das US-Außenministerium erklärt: "Wir bieten die gleichen Bearbeitungszeiten für die Online-Verlängerung an wie für die Verlängerung per Post. Verlängern Sie nicht online, wenn Sie in weniger als sechs Wochen eine internationale Reise antreten."
- Sie müssen bereits einen Reisepass besitzen. Das trifft nur auf 20% der US Bürger zu.
- Dieser muss vor mehr als 9 Jahren, aber weniger als 15 Jahren ausgestellt worden sein.
- Ihr alter Pass darf nicht verloren oder gestohlen worden sein.
- Sie müssen sich ein MyTravelGov-Konto einrichten, welches dann vom Ministerium innerhalb von 24 Stunden registriert wird.
- Fotografieren Sie sich oder lassen Sie sich ein Foto machen,
- ... welches alle Kriterien für ein biometrisches Abbild erfüllt.
- Laden Sie dieses Foto in Ihrem MyTravelGov-Konto über eine verschlüsselte Verbindung hoch.
- Anschließend erfolgt die Zahlung über das ebenfalls verschlüsselte Pay.Gov-Portal.
- Dann beginnt die 6-wöchige Wartezeit ...
Damit ist die Erneuerung von Reisepässen eine von 17 Bundesbehörden, die bisher auf papierbasierte Systeme und Prozesse gesetzt hatte und im vergangenen Jahr durch eine Verfügung von Präsident Biden angewiesen wurden ihre Prozesse zu rationalisieren. Das Weiße Haus spricht den Nutzern sogar eine Garantie aus:
"Die Amerikaner werden ihre Pässe sicher online erneuern können, was ihnen die Wartezeit, den Aufwand und die Kosten erspart, die mit dem Ausdrucken, dem Gang zum Postamt und der Verwendung eines Papierschecks verbunden sind. ... Dieses neue Online-Verfahren wird mit Sicherheit durchgeführt."
Falls nicht, gibt es ja noch den analogen Weg ...
