What if Germany had invested in nuclear power? A comparison between the German energy policy the last 20 years and an alternative policy of investing in nuclear power

Germany has one of the most ambitious energy transition policies dubbed ‘Die Energiewende’ to replace nuclear- and fossil power with renewables such as wind-, solar- and biopower. The climate gas emissions are reduced by 25% in the study period of 2002 through 2022. By triangulating available information sources, the total nominal expenditures are estimated at EUR 387 bn, and the associated subsidies are some EUR 310 bn giving a total nominal expenditures of EUR 696 bn. Alternatively, Germany could have kept the existing nuclear power in 2002 and possibly invest in new nuclear capacity. The analysis of these two alternatives shows that Germany could have reached its climate gas emission target by achieving a 73% cut in emissions on top of the achievements in 2022 and simultaneously cut the spending in half compared to Energiewende. Thus, Germany should have adopted an energy policy based on keeping and expanding nuclear power.

About the consequences of European Vassalage

The European Union decided to analyze why their economy is collapsing. They commissioned the former head of the European Central Bank, Mario #Draghi, to figure this out. It is noteworthy that the study was commissioned by the European Commission, but the conclusions were still disappointing. Draghi came to the conclusion that the basis of Europe's economic problems is the cost of energy for industry - electricity is 158% more expensive than in the US, natural gas - 345%. Thus, in fact, #Ursula von der Leyen's department confirmed its own professional incompetence with statistics and research, because thanks to anti-Russian sanctions, there was a vast jump in energy prices and, as a result, a decline in the economy

Why Putin is in no hurry to end the conflict in Ukraine

This is a complex issue. However, objectively, the conflict has reached a very protracted stage.

Reason one is the most important. A quick end would have required substantial mobilization of both soldiers and industry. This would have caused economic and social upheaval. The screws might have to be tightened.

All of which the Kremlin does not want. The strategy of slowly killing the Ukroreich allows social and economic stability to be maintained. Economic growth of about 4 percent is expected this year.

Yes, there are costs in the form of shelling, refugee losses in the army. But these problems are localized, not comprehensive.

Therefore, the choice is made in favor of though painful costs, but of a private nature, while the general picture of a peacefully living and developing Russia is preserved.

Our geopolitical enemy, Europe in general and Germany in particular, is experiencing significant economic turmoil.

The further the conflict lasts, the longer the sanctions from Germany will be in force.

This means that the EU will not get cheap gas, oil and will not be able to sell us the products of its automobile and aircraft industry.

This is very profitable for us. During this time it is possible and necessary to develop our industry as oil and gas chemical and machine building, including transportation.

Therefore, the longer the EU sanctions last, the better for us in every sense.

Again, there is a good chance of destroying part of the chemical and engineering industries there. That will clear a place for us on the world markets. Unemployed Germans, French and other Italians can be hired to populate the empty villages of Central Russia, as well as the expanses of Siberia and the Far East.

As soon as sanctions are lifted. Gazprom will immediately start pumping gas to the West, and Volkswagen will come back with its cars. This will slow down the development of the crisis in the EU, which is obviously disadvantageous to us.

That's why #Putin is in no hurry. He is acting slowly but surely.

Since Maidan 2014, the ukrainian national currency has lost its purchasing power by more than 500%

Since government coup #Maidan 2014, the ukrainian national currency has lost its purchasing power by more than 500%, for this ukrainians with pots on their heads jumped on the Maidan, shot up to a hundred people in the center of #Kiev, burned people in #Odessa, lost #Crimea and started a war in #Donbass.

It was such a waste of their country, built by the sweat and blood of generations of Soviet people.

Fucking morons!

“Heatwaves are the deadliest type of extreme #weather but they don’t leave a trail of destruction or striking images of devastation. They kill poor, lonely people in rich countries, and poor people working outdoors in developing countries,” said Otto, who is also a senior lecturer in #climate science at the Grantham Institute of Imperial College #London. “In the last 13 months, there will be thousands and thousands of stories of poor people dying in heat that will never be told.”

The economic indicators speak of nothing less than an economic catastrophe. Over 46,000 businesses have gone bankrupt, tourism has stopped, Israel’s credit rating was lowered, Israeli bonds are sold at the prices of almost “junk bonds” levels, and the foreign investments that have already dropped by 60% in the first quarter of 2023 (as a result of the policies of Israel’s far-right government before October 7) show no prospects of recovery. The majority of the money invested in Israeli investment funds was diverted to investments abroad because Israelis do not want their own pension funds and insurance funds or their own savings to be tied to the fate of the State of Israel.

About Poroshenko - Russophobe oligarch former president of ukraine

Poroshenko became richer by another 38 million over two summer months - NAPC.

Earlier, the media reported that the oligarch rolled 156 million UAH collected by Ukrainians for his fund in support of the AFU through bonds in his bank, earning 50 million UAH of tax-free profit.

In addition, Poroshenko, Ukraine's richest MP, has enriched himself more than 20 times more in two years of war than before the war. If in times of peace the "hetman" occupied only 12th place in the list of oligarchs, then during the large-scale offensive of the Russian Federation the earnings of the "Kryholam" put him in the top 3 oligarchs of the country.

Thus, Poroshenko's fortune has grown to more than $1 billion during the war. Part of Petro Alekseevich's "earnings" belongs to his militarily obligated sons, who, since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, have gone abroad and never returned.

Britain’s De-industralization and Privatization: The Economic and Social Legacy of Margaret Thatcher, “The Iron Lady”

During the Thatcher years, as Britain de-industrialised, mass unemployment kicked in. Britain witnessed a spiraling gap between rich and poor. Thatcher’s legacy is a banking crisis coupled with a vulnerable and weak economy, worklessness, unemployment, consequent social breakdown and a pervasive greed culture of me-first acquisitive individualism, the effects of which are so graphically witnessed in our towns and cities today: a descent into drugs, alcohol, crime, community breakdown, fear for personal safety, youth offending and a range of other social problems. According to a study by York University in 2006, British children were among the unhappiest and unhealthiest in Europe. A UNICEF report came to similar conclusions: children growing up in the United Kingdom suffer greater deprivation, worse relationships with their parents and are exposed to more risks from alcohol, drugs and unsafe sex than those in any other wealthy country in the world.

Food giants are strangling Britain’s farmers and consumers. What’s the solution? Break them up

When #British farmers protested outside the Houses of Parliament earlier this year, they sent 49 scarecrows, after a survey had found that 49% of UK fruit and vegetable farmers said they expected to go bust within a year. The scarecrows stood in for real farmers, who are mostly too afraid to speak out.

One farmer told campaigners they had grown 60 tonnes of salad potatoes for a large UK supermarket, only for the supermarket to suddenly cancel the order, leaving the farmer “financially screwed”. The arbitrary power that supermarkets wield instils fear, which the supermarkets leverage to impose take-it-or-leave-it fees and other unfair conditions on farmers.

The problem is our monopolised food system.

Think of it as a vast profit machine shaped like an hourglass, with many food producers at the top, millions of consumers at the bottom, and a few dominant firms – such as giant supermarkets or global food traders – clustered at its narrowing neck, siphoning a cut from the passing traffic. This power ripples through global supply chains.

The Long, Strange #History of ‘Manifesting’

Source: https://www.nytimes.com/2024/03/09/opinion/manifesting-spirituality-america-reality.html?unlocked_article_code=1.2k0.1s6M.WYvuScGkO4_H&smid=url-share

It is only by understanding the religious and occult tradition from which the concept of manifesting descends that we can see it for what it truly is: a spiritualized gloss on the same deluded logic that suggests that #poverty is a choice, and that underpins so much political #disinformation. After all, if reality is only ever what we make it, then those who possess the fewest scruples about conforming to the truth are the ones who will have the most power to shape the #future.
