23.03.2023 Nacy Faeser gegen TikTok

A-soziale Netzwerke

I travel hither and yon to bring you the crunchiest images of the most in-between HD #video #format. I was so thrilled to actually get this working, you have no idea.

Don't take the #videos of the #screen itself all that literally - #CRT's are notoriously hard to record, and like I said, pixel peeping flies in the face of this whole format. To the naked eye the output looks simply outstanding, and I didn't find out how it "really" looked until I was editing the closeups.

As I said in the video, if you have any WVHS #tapes, I would love to borrow them to rip now that I have a working process.

Great #Website to #download #videos from different social media platforms like #LinkedIn, #Vemeo and others.

I save some videos i like to my personal cloud. And always looked for a fast, reliable and spam free site to download them.

This site:

Is one of the easier ones to use. Videos are MP4 format and you download the original quality.

Not to mention that it's fast.

Odysee video platform seems to have sorted out their buffering problem, and livestreaming is available to all

Bild/Foto
This is really great news as the service was becoming fairly unusable for me for the last few months. Tested it now and seems buttery smooth. I also see more resolution options, which in the past had some dependency on what was uploaded.

You don’t know about Odysee…? Well, it is used by many YouTubers as a safe backup for their videos in case they get a ban on YouTube, and many use it as their primary video sharing platform to escape the YouTube tracking. So in many cases you will find a lot of YouTuber’s content there just as it appears on YouTube (Odysee can be configured to actually automatically republish any public video that you have uploaded to YouTube). But it has it’s own vibe and culture, and many also see it as having a lot more freedoms.

And yes it does have a cryptocurrency that you can earn or spend there, but that is totally by the way and can be ignored if you’re not interested.

"I love it when my hands surprise my head" says Bertjan Pot

image

Designer Bertjan Pot offers a look inside his studio and introduces his designs for Moooi in this exclusive video produced by Dezeen for the Dutch brand.

Pot invited Dezeen to his Rotterdam studio, a converted gymnasium, where he demonstrated his process and showcased various products he has designed for Moooi, as well as some of the woven masks that he is known for making.

Dutch designer Bertjan Pot created the Random Light for Moooi

"I'm constantly trying things out, how they fit together," he said, "Some of these things, I consider a prototype. And sometimes a prototype actually becomes a product."

Pot has designed products for Moooi since near the brand's inception, including lights, chairs and a carpet.

Bertjan Pot Random Light for MoooiThe Random Light is made by coiling glass-fiber yarn around a spherical frame

His first piece for the Dutch furniture brand was the Random Light, which he initially made by hand himself before the design caught the attention of Moooi founder Marcel Wanders.

The designer made the first run of the lights by randomly wrapping a resin-soaked thread around an inflated balloon, which he then deflated and removed to leave a hard spherical shell that acts as a lampshade.

heracleum-lamp-1Pot's Heracleum light for Moooi features a branching structure tipped with a multitude of LED lights

"The first lights I just made to order, and I would deliver them myself," he explained. "I had all these fibres from glass yarn, and I had balloons, and I had resin, so I started coiling the thread in the most simple way around a big balloon."

"Then Marcel Wanders called and said 'hey, I've seen your lights, would you like the Random Light in Moooi?'"

The Heracleum III Linear light is the latest version of the design

Pot went on to design Heracleum, a suspension light comprised of a branching metal structure and a multitude of small LED lights.

He showed Dezeen the latest version of the design, the Heracleum III Linear, which is designed to hang above long surfaces such as dining tables or kitchen islands. The new version of the light has also been updated with brighter LEDs and better integration with smart home systems.

The Heracleum light was named after the flower of the same name, which was a reference for the piece. However, Pot also noted the mathematical influences behind the design of the light fixture.

"For me, the Heracleum is a lot more about math than about nature," said Pot. "I always like it when there's more than one story with a certain product."

The form of the Heracleum light draws on mathematical principles

Reflecting on the process of experimental prototyping, Pot emphasised the satisfaction that he finds in the intuitive aspects of his craft.

"I love it when my hands can surprise my head," he said. "Your hands are making something and even the thing that you are fully in control of making can surprise you. I think that's a wonderful gift that comes with the profession."

Pot is also known for creating colourful woven masks, which feature prominently on his Instagram account.

bertjan-pot-masksPot's masks are part of an ongoing series started in 2010

He has designed a number of other products for Moooi, including the Carbon Chair designed in collaboration with Marcel Wanders, and the Prop Light, which evokes the mirrors of dressing room theatres with its strips of bare LED bulbs.

Dezeen interviewed Pot in 2016 at Milan design week, where he made a series of seats by weaving shoelaces around inner tubes from different vehicles as part of Nike's The Nature of Motion exhibition.

Rise Design Studio opts to "reuse and recycle" for Carousel restaurant interior

Lightwell in Carousel restaurant by RISE Design Studio

London restaurant Carousel has moved to a new venue but taken many of its old fixtures and fittings with it, thanks to an environmentally conscious approach from Rise Design Studio.

Founded seven years ago by brothers Ollie and Ed Templeton, the restaurant has moved into three converted Georgian townhouses in Fitzrovia, with dining rooms on two floors.

Rise Design Studio designed the original Carousel restaurant in Marylebone, so the architects decided to be as resourceful as possible when repeating the formula in a new location.

Several design elements from the original restaurant have been repurposed in the new location.

These include the tall metal-clad entrance door, which can now be found at the entrance to one of the dining rooms, and a copper light window that is now installed internally rather than externally. A set of Spanish wall tiles were also carefully removed and now serve as floor tiles.

These are combined with new colours and textures, from materials such as painted brickwork and terrazzo-style tiles.

"Carousel 2.0 was an opportunity to create new spaces which didn't exist in the original Carousel," said Rise Design Studio director Imran Jahn. "But we also did not want to lose the feel of the original."

"We wanted to re-use and recycle," he told Dezeen. "We wanted previous customers and returning guest chefs to be reminded of Carousel 1.0, so we proposed to retain finishes, fixtures and fittings and use them again here."

The new property gives the restaurant enough space for several dining rooms and kitchens plus, for the first time, a wine bar.

On the ground floor, the bar sits in between an all-day dining room and a space for Carousel's ever-changing roster of guest chefs. The former faces the street, while the latter is lit from above through a lightwell.

There's also a separate diner-style restaurant space intended for new dining concept launches, which is currently occupied by Goila Butter Chicken.

Upstairs, a subdividing lounge/events space leads through to a private dining room.

"Ed and Ollie had scoped out a draft layout of the various zones they wanted to create before we were introduced to the project," said Jahn. "They needed our design expertise in interiors to help bring it all together."

A consistent element throughout the interior is the use of industrial-style Crittall screens and doors, which are infilled with fluted glass.

Several rooms feature walls finished with a type of Nordic plaster that comes in different colours and creates a smooth, durable and multi-tonal surface. The guest kitchen is a mid-grey shade, while the private dining room is soft green.

Other details include concrete counters with wooden slatted fronts, exposed steel structural beams and formica tables.

"The overall tone of the proposals brings together the distinct spaces but allows them to sit happily in their individuality," said Jahn.

"The use of Crittall screens throughout and reeded glazing provides for continuity but also an air of mystery for the viewer wanting to find out more about the partially hidden spaces within."

The new Carousel location welcomed its first diners in November 2021. The all-day menu, prepared by Ollie, includes a range of small plates including beef tartare toast, confit pumpkin with burrata and sage, and grilled mackerel flatbread.

"We've been dreaming about this move for a long time," said Ed. "We loved being a part of the Marylebone community, but we genuinely couldn't have imagined a more exciting neighbourhood, or a more fitting home, to be moving into."

"You'll find all the best bits of the old Carousel in the new space, with some fun additions like the neighbourhood wine bar, where you'll finally be able to experience the kind of food that Ollie likes to cook, in an easygoing all-day setting," he added.

Other recent restaurant openings in London include Kol, a Marylebone eatery with a Mexican menu, and Maido, a sushi restaurant in St John's Wood.
