#UngrownIdeas - A series about #change and #Vision of the future

I just wanted to find a place to put these things. I feel like I should place it here. I have a few ideas that I need to write down and try to share it somehow even if nobody will even read it.
I have ideas about certain topics. I will try to do that in these series. However, these ideas are still ungrown. They still need to be fleshed and should be seen as drafts of ideas. Maybe you could even call them visions. Just how I would like to imagine the future will look like.

#Energy - Accessible energy

With rising energy needs, I think it would be better to get more people to get self-sufficient. Technology plays a big role. It should be like a servant, a tool that is there to make thing better for everyone. Basically a blessing for everyone. I think the best implementation of this idea is the solarpunk idea. It makes everything more reliant on nature, which has an effect on our daily consumption. When I was thinking about this idea, which consists of 4 parts

1. Every house should have an #TreeOfLife

There needs to be a change in how we build houses. Every house should standard be equipped with three sources of energy:
1. Wind.
2. Solar.
3. Water.

This can best be picture by a tree. The leaves of the tree are the panels to catch the sun rays, the branches to catch the wind and the water to catch from rain and to be used for energy and other uses. A rooftop should become the standard place where devices that catch the sun, catch the wind and catch the rain.

The scale of the life tree depends on the

Of course, there will be times when there is no rain, wind or sun. That's when we need nuclear energy to supplement during times when no resources is available. However, this is also the possibility of batteries of course.
The conventional idea of how a house should look like will also be changed. As there will be new features and ways to

2. With IOT devices the net should be avoided

The idea that we can push anything on and off, should be let go or at least as far as possible. We should rely on nature to provide most of our energy. This also means we should try to schedule our devices to switch on and off when possible.

With the help of IOT devices can communicate and schedule when the next wash can be done. It will get a weather forecast via the internet from a supplier, notifies the owner how much power is expected and schedules slots where devices can be switched on. On a windy day, the energy should be used instead of being sent to the net. By having devices communicate with each other to inform whether they can switch on or not, how much energy they can use, etc.

3. Energy should not be wasted

Having an electric car is nice and for some people quite essential. However, we should try to limit the use of the car as much as possible. This can only be achieved if the environment allows us to not use the car. Urban planning is critical, as it shapes how and what we will use. Trains or buses should be used as it can transport more people per energy unit and would be the preferred way of travel for long distances. Shorter distances should be done by walking, skating or cycling. Energy that you do not need to generate is energy you do not need and therefore not waste.

Conclusion

I know this vision is way too simplistic and there will be many challenges along the way. If we even get there at all with all the politics and crises that is going on. I just wanted to share how I see the world tackling the issues we are facing at the moment. This does inspire to create art about it, so I can totally understand the solarpunk art movement. Actually I am also inspired to create art from this.

Thanks for reading!

#Finland's #6G #vision for 2030

watch: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r4iDnGMQNq0

Combine after a #cyber attack, the Finns are extinct because they starved to death in their #smart homes. The doors no longer opened because there was no connection to the #cloud and thus the door could no longer identify the residents.

When I watched TNG as a child, I also dreamed of such a #future. With today's #knowledge and the revelations of #Snowden, I feel such a large collection of #data only as a #threat to my #freedom and #privacy.

'Rare condition gives me TV static in my vision' | BBC News

For as long as Paris Haigh can remember she's seen tiny flickering dots in her vision.
The dots look like TV static, and they're a constant presence in her life.
The 19-year-old can see them when she goes shopping. They're with her when she studies at college. She can even see the dots when she closes her eyes.
Paris, from East Kilbride in South Lanarkshire, assumed for many years that everyone else could see them too.
When she discovered this wasn't the case, she put it down to her autism and sensory processing disorder - a condition which causes her senses to be especially sensitive.
She then went from thinking that everyone could see the dots to wondering if she was the only one in the world who could.
But then Paris heard about "visual snow" - a little-known neurological condition which causes visual and non-visual symptoms.

Seeing Versus Shooting as a Photographer | PetaPixel

The photographer Dorothea Lange once famously said “A camera is a device that teaches you to see without a camera.” I always loved this quotation. Once you get good at shooting, you start to see the world like a photographer — you notice things, you notice light, you look slower, you take pictures in your mind. The camera saves them, but even without one, you see differently.
But the converse breaks down; there are some important disparities between shooting and seeing, and not fully understanding them can lead to frustration and self-recrimination, thinking “I’m not any good at taking pictures.” It’s not true, you just need to come to grips with the differences — and when you do your photos should improve immediately.

I do not see the fall at the edge of the cliff arched over the ocean below, but I do see the alchemy of the subtle states of matter, the plastic water working on the hard edge of the rock, the calcification of the original fire to which the spirit of the water still remains closest.
I see the fractal of this discourse, the tenuous line that abysses in the distance, the curve transposed indefinitely in its spatial projection, the history, the molecule, and the communion of the being in the feast of the storm.

Have you also heard that after the pandemic they want to go back to business as usual? Crises like the one in Ukraine are supposed to distract us from the environmental problems. We should be developing concepts for more environmentally friendly and sustainable tourism, travel, energy production, waste reduction, etc. Instead, the military-industrial complex gets the highest budget to protect us from the evil Russians and the terrorists.

New FDA-approved eye drops could replace reading glasses for millions: "It's definitely a life changer" | CBS News

A newly approved eye drop hitting the market on Thursday could change the lives of millions of Americans with age-related blurred near vision, a condition affecting mostly people 40 and older.
Vuity, which was approved by the Food and Drug Administration in October, would potentially replace reading glasses for some of the 128 million Americans who have trouble seeing close-up. The new medicine takes effect in about 15 minutes, with one drop on each eye providing sharper vision for six to 10 hours, according to the company.

Why we should reject Mark Zuckerberg's dehumanizing vision of a "Metaverse"

https://www.counterpunch.org/2021/11/24/why-we-should-reject-mark-zuckerbergs-dehumanizing-vision-of-a-metaverse/

"The true path forward is to #reconnect with the #beauty of our #planetary #home and the #natural #world or, in the words of #cultural #historian #MorrisBerman, to “ #re-enchant the world.” We need to somehow, through the seemingly unstoppable momentum of runaway technology, find a way to #return to a way of #living that retains the use of #limited and #intelligent #technology where appropriate without allowing it to run roughshod over the #core #values of #humanity we still #cherish."
